Riots In Vancouver BC 2011 - The Real Stanley Cup Losers

Riots In Vancouver BC 2011, June 15th.

Well if one thing's for certain, Vancouver Canucks fans are more than disappointed at the 4-0 loss to the Boston Bruins, winners of the 2011 Stanley Cup Finals.

In fact, even before the game was over, riots in Vancouver BC 2011 began to erupt in the streets of the downtown core of the city. Hoards of angry fans have decided that demonstrating their disappointment in the form of overturning cars, starting fires, smashing windows and defying the local police force is the solution. This is nothing but a true embarrassment. Many will agree.

For anyone who follows hockey, the Vancouver Canucks have one of the league's biggest following. Fans obsess about their team from the minute the season starts. The Canucks were the hopefuls to win this year and they definitely had a lot of people rooting for them. It had been repeated over and over again that the "trend" of the host city of the Olympic Winter Games would follow with that same city's NHL team to go on winning the Stanley Cup finals. Fans were more than certain that Vancouver would continue this trend just as Montreal and Calgary saw their Stanley Cup victories after they hosted the winter games. Well, tonight's riots in Vancouver BC 2011 will now be what the world remembers of the 2011 host city.

Riots In Vancouver BC 2011 are not the only riots to hit the streets of Vancouver after a cup loss. Back in 1994 the same thing erupted and almost on the very same date - June 14th. The Canucks too had made it to game 7 but lost to the New York Rangers. The riots then caused more than 1.1 million dollars in damage to the city and continued right into the morning of June 15 1994. Damage to the city from today's riots in Vancouver BC 2011 is yet to be determined, but with what is being reported, it is apparent that it too will be a big loss for Vancouverites.

We can assume that any Canucks fan who was present in the downtown area and who hasn't participated in the riots has gone home safely. Several arrests are being made, the riot squad is out in full force and police are not holding back on making any arrests they deem necessary. The once jubilating crowd in the streets of Vancouver are now left with just the drunk, the stupid, the erratic, the negligent, and the foolish. These participants are the REAL Stanley Cup losers. Not the Vancouver Canucks.
