How Do I Go About Building Loads Of Traffic

When starting Internet Marketing we think that the hard part is building a great site. It is not the hard part is getting loads of relevant free traffic. You can have the very best site in thew World but it will not convert to sales unless you can direct loads of relevant interested buyers to it!

It may seem obvious but you have to start fishing in the pool where the fish hang out. This is quite easy to ascertain you can check to see what is selling in Clickbank, the gravity is the number of affiliates that have made a sale in the last 30 days. So we have to aim to select products with a high gravity or ones that are rising in gravity, this shows that affiliates are having success in selling it.

Once you have decided on a product or area into which to sell you can further research it by checking the Ezine article directory. Search Ezine for the topic and look at the list of articles it gives you, these will have been optimised for the best keywords (it lists the most viewed articles first) look at the numbers and see if you think you may be able to make sales if you can direct 10% to 15% of that traffic to your landing page. Note this is a very good percentage to aim at if you can do it you will get sales a lot of articles pull in 2% or less.

Once you have the topic and good keywords then is the time to build the site and this is where it pays to know what brings in the traffic. There are 5 main things that will bring traffic to most sites.

1. Video so use Youtube if you can make your own videos.

2. Audio so add mp3 tracks if you can. Or add relevant music to the site.

3. Articles these have the ability to link from the bio box, be sure to follow the rules of the site though.

4. Affiliates you can get them to sell for you and it is free until the sale is made!

5. Back links from other related and high ranking sites, not direct competitors.

OK these are the best sources so if you are a great video producer use your skill and make great how to videos and always include your link to your landing page. If you are not so good at video use powerpoint slides and add an audio file to turn it into a presentation. These get good traffic and you can post it on Facebook My Space etc and then link to it from Digg, Stumbleupon, Pinterest etc. The thing to remember here is to add good sites other than your own so you do not look too pushy or spammy, choose areas of interest that you are not trying to sell into.

Article directories will bring you traffic, a good article here will get 10's or even 100's of visitors per day initially and many thousands over time. Most of my articles spend quite some time on Page 1 of Google for their keywords! Ezine articles do well too.

If you have your own product you can promote it through Clickbank or Share a Sale and have affiliates sell it for you. Always make sure you have an opt in page for anyone making a purchase, that way you get them on your personal list (or at least have a chance.

Finally post responses to questions on relevant forums (if you are allowed a link in your signature file). Use high ranking sites and link to your landing page, this is where Blogger, Squidoo and other sites are useful as their Page Rank makes for a better backlink, but always read their rules and ensure you provide quality original information.

You can also negotiate with similar sites you like to exchange links (never do this without permission) you could get marked as a spammer and lose all of your hard earned ranking on Google if the other site owner complains.
