How To Properly Research Keywords

In the world of internet marketing writers all too often forget exactly who they’re writing for. I know that I have been guilty of this in the past as well. The key thing to remember is exactly who is going to be reading your articles, websites, blogs, and other created content.

I’m not talking about demographics here either. No, it’s much simpler than that. I’m simply talking about the fact that at the end of the day we aren’t writing for search engines, we’re writing for people. So, how do you know who you’re writing for and how can you make certain that your content is for the right sets of eyes? Well, read on to find just a couple of tips to help you stay focused on your audience.

Use keywords as the tools they are

Keywords are great wonderful tools but that’s all that they are. Once you have compiled that perfect list of keywords that match your desired competition, amount of searches, and the other targets you may be trying to reach, you need to step back and think for a moment. Use a keyword as merely a tool. Think about exactly what is going through that person’s mind.

For example if someone is searching for ways to make money online fast, then recommending that they build an affiliate marketing business is a really bad idea. Why? Well, because if they are directly looking for a way to make some emergency cash, then most likely they are currently facing a financial crisis such as job loss, foreclosure, or are in desperate need of money right now.

In this instance trying to sell a product is a bad idea but providing them with resources where they can find online work may well work in your advantage for a few reasons. First, you are giving them an immediate solution to their needs. Second, if you can aid them in their time of desperation, then you can potentially market additional resources to them later on down the road in the form of marketing courses, products, and other valuable information.

The rewards of fulfillment are great

The bottom line is that by fulfilling the needs of your readers rather than the needs of the search engines you can potentially gain a lifelong customer rather than someone who is merely going to provide you with a one-time click and run. You want to try to build a reputable business and a real relationship so that you don’t have to continue refueling the fire with thousands of new leads from keywords all the time. Not to mention the fact that if you help someone with their problem, then when their friends have a similar problem your sites will be on the tip of their tongues.
