If I knew what I know now back then, I would have turned out much differently, I think. Working for yourself really does things that you never thought possible. You notice that you are responsible for your own success. That is why I recommend that you should work for yourself and make money while in college. That is, as opposed to working for someone else.
I am particularly talking about making money online.
You should work for yourself because you can determine when you should work. You are not at the mercy of some boss who needs you to be at his/her place by a certain time for a certain number of hours.
When you work for yourself online, you are not concerned with the minimum wage. At least you should be able to beat that in the first month or two but from what I have found, you can easily earn a lot more than you need when you are disciplined enough to stick to your strategy.
When you work for yourself online, you build up a passive income online machine that could be earning money for you for years to come. It depends on what strategy you use. Some strategies require a lot of baby sitting. I like the “set and forget it” strategies as opposed to those which I need to check every other two days or something like that. In any case, you need to be in your lecture rooms, or library and all those nice places a college student needs to be.
When you work for yourself online you can determine the amount of work you need to do on a daily basis. The great thing about doing business online is that you can break up the steps you need to make into small and manageable bits that could easily fit within your schedule.
When you work for yourself online and make money, you may not need student loans or you can pay them off quickly and start off in life far better than most students who are struggling with debts they incurred in their student days.
In this information age, I would highly recommend that you work for yourself online and make money because you have a lot more odds stacked up in your favour as opposed to working for someone else. The entry barriers have been leveled to accessibility to internet. In college, you should have that for free in most cases.
You need to learn about making money online and make sure you implement it. But you need the discipline, patience and motivation for it. Otherwise I would say it would be better to pick up a job elsewhere on or off campus and make money there.
