Knowing how much time to spending researching versus working is a common question for new affiliate marketers. There is no share in asking that question because of the overwhelming industry of affiliate marketing filled with people who each do it there way with many simply, but still numerous, steps of how to generate traffic to their site, and then how they promote their products once they have traffic. Here we will discuss the ratio of research to work for new affiliate marketers.
New marketers should first spend a few days learning the very basics of affiliate marketing as to have an idea of what it entails. You will want to familiarize yourself with article marketing, pay per click (although that is not essential for the new person), email marketing, blog development, research (perhaps the most important aspect),and product promotion - for starters. Once you have a general idea of what to do. You should then develop an action plan.
Up to this point, there is no ratio of research to work because you are only researching. I recommend jumping into the pool as soon as possible and getting your feet wet, because you can learn more from doing, than by learning from tutorials only. At this point (when you have started a campaign) use a 3:1 ratio from research to work. For every 45 minutes you spend researching, spend 15 working. You still are very green in this business, but you are also doing something through an actual campaign. Keep up the good work!
Once you get the affiliate marketing part work a little more (it will depend upon your personal development), move it to 1:1. Half of the time you will work on your campaign, and the other half you will research affiliate marketing from your favorite source. After a little more time, make it 1:3 ratio of 15 minutes of research to 45 minutes of work. You will have a really good grasp of internet marketing and can spend most of your time developing your campaigns and expanding your online business. But you still have much to learn, so do not forget to study up!
No one truly ever knows everything about affiliate marketing. The affiliate marketing ratio of research to work will probably never be entirely on the work side, as even the top experts learn something new from what someone else does. From search engines changing their algorithms, marketers must update their websites to be as search engine friendly as possible.
