Everyone searching for affiliate marketing success does so in their own way. Yeah, we can take an affiliate marketing training course that helps us to lay out our path, but our own interpretation brings us in a direction all our own.
But even though our paths can be very unique, do we still encounter some of the same roadblocks on the way?
These are my top 3 issues that culminate into one, big splinter in my side that I’ve struggled with since starting my attempt at affiliate marketing success.
Wasting time online/easily distracted- the abundance of information can be it’s own downfall. I can’t tell you how many times I sit down intending to do some work, open my browser and completely forget what I was going to do twenty minutes later after getting lured by a catchy headline.
No way around it, I have had to start scheduling my time on the computer and how I spend it. Taking into account the chaos with five children home for the summer, there are specific times that will be productive for specific tasks such as writing, site development and social engagement, while other tasks will just have to be done amidst the chaos.
Comparing yourself to others- I mentioned before that we all have our own paths, so it only stands to reason it’s really ridiculous to compare your progress to anyone else. Regardless, we might get a small stint of jealousy when you see the success of someone else and wonder “Why isn’t it working for me?”
You have no idea about their background, so you're comparing apples to oranges. How long have they been involved in internet marketing and what was their background before, Do they have more time to work on their site than you do? Are they already financially independent?
You have no way of answering these questions, so there’s really no easy way to get over it except to look at your efforts and being honest and reasonable. Are you putting as much time into it as you can and should?
I started tracking and logging my posts. Since doing this, I’ve seen a much more consistent behavior in producing content. I think I need to visualize my efforts. From there, I can see if I’m happy with my production and asses accordingly.
Not getting results- One of the worst feelings is putting a lot of effort into something and not seeing a return on that time invested. But it really is in how you look at it. I’m doing things I enjoy while learning a business that encourages the enjoyment of those activities. If I wanted immediate results, I should look at investing some serious money, but that wasn’t in the marketing plan... yet. The way I see it, with an investment of time, I am differing an investment of money. It’s just going to take me longer to turn a profit than if I were ready to start throwing money into it.
I just remind myself to be consistent and persistent. When I start thinking that way again, I become much more productive and I’ve seen positive results, even from just a little consistent effort.
But these three combine into a personal area of frustration.
Lack of productivity- There are countless times when I feel I wasn’t as productive as I should have been. Looking back on my day, I often recognize one of these scenarios present at one time and realize I could have spent my time better.
Well, tomorrow’s another day. Sometimes the only thing you can do is wake up, start fresh and try to get yourself in the right mindset for the day. If not, we all need to take a day off at some point.
Sometimes it can become very disheartening not getting the expected results when working so hard towards affiliate marketing success. But with the support of an affiliate marketing training course, I’ve seen that there is success for those willing to put the work into it. That, and making sure I continue to enjoy what I do.
