The challenge of Internet marketing is that you are going to need to learn how to use your time effectively. It is easy to get distracted by external forces.
Distraction #1 - The Internet
Let's face it, he Internet is often a big time hog. It is easy to waste hours "surfing". Most people catch themselves doing it occasion. Sometimes we call it "researching", and occasionally, we are researching. There in lies the danger. Surfing is part of the research process in Internet Marketing. The challenge is not to get carried a way or lost. Limit the time you spend surfing and researching online. Set a timer if you must.
Distraction #2 - The Next Greatest Thing
This is a big problem with new marketers, although seasoned professionals can fall into this trap just as well. The traps is seeking "the next greatest thing".
If you have signed up for any Internet marketing mailing lists, it is easy to get bombarded with offers and get caught up in the hype. These hyped up offers pop-up all the time.
It is easy to get caught up in the get rich overnight offers, but most of them are scams. Internet marketing, like any business takes dedication and perseverance to succeed.
Avoid subjecting yourself to most of these offers. Unsubscribe from their mailing lists. Focus on building your business instead. Stop looking for something that will make you a millionaire overnight. It just does not work that way..
Distraction #3 - Disorganization
Keep track of everything that you do. Always have a pen and paper handy to record ideas, especially when you are surging. Keep a business journal. You never know when doing even the most obscure online task will lead to a new opportunity. If you do not put your ideas on paper then they can slip away never to be looked at again.
Epiphanies happen. It is important to record your ideas. Maybe one of them will be worth a million dollars.
It is also important to keep track your Internet marketing efforts. You need to find a method to organize your marketing campaigns and keep track of the tasks involved. You can use a spread sheet for this, or you can find an online tool.
Using a personal calendar to record the tasks you create for yourself will help you keep track of completing the tasks and keep you moving forward in the right direction.
