Have you encountered an excellent leader in your life? Have you encountered a bad one? How do you know the difference?
Finding Excellent Leadership and Your Internet Marketing Career
I sometimes think that leaders have no idea about how much they impact the lives of others. With just a few wise words a leader can turn an upside down day into a bright and productive one. In the same turn, it only takes one time for a leader to crush our hopes and aspirations. But why? When answering this question for myself I realize that it is because we admire our leaders. It doesn't matter whether they walk into our lives out of seemingly nowhere, we vote them in, they're our parents or if they're standing in front of a congregation. When leaders talk, we tend to listen. However, we are not absolved of our responsibility to ourselves or to society simply because leaders exist. Finding excellent leadership is a mission that we should all take up. We owe it to ourselves to make sure that we are not misguided.
What does finding excellent leadership have to do with internet marketing? Internet marketing is a business. It doesn't matter whether we take it up full time, part time, or simply as a hobby. The whole point of marketing is to make money. It's a venture. And, as with any venture, we need access to tools and resources in order to achieve success. That's where leadership comes in. Leaders are a resource. We use them for a variety of reasons not the least of which are encouragement and guidance.
Why should we care about finding excellent leadership in internet marketing? It's very easy to get sucked into the retail aspect of internet marketing by purchasing software geared toward the industry or hopping around from forum to forum in search of few good tips. We would save both our pocketbooks and our time by simply finding excellent leadership and incorporating those people into our lives.
Is finding excellent leadership difficult? Not really. Every industry has its gurus and its leaders. For example, the accounting industry publishes its own journals, requires continuing professional education in order to keep credentials and offers several membership programs for professionals. You don't have to go any further than your doctors office for a similar example. Take a look at the Chamber of Commerce, its primary purpose being to a community's economy primarily through providing services to business owners through annual membership. We don't have to look too deep within any industry to identify it's excellent leaders. They tend to rise to the top just like cream. Once we identify who the leaders in our industry are, we can then dig a little deeper to determine if their morals, perspectives and character match our own. We should be careful though. No one is perfect.
As a mom I place a lot of emphasis on leadership. There is not a single one of us who can claim perfection. But we all have the potential to become great if we only take the time to invest in our own personal and professional growth. By doing so, we almost inevitably begin to learn how to care about and foster the success of others. I hope that my own two children will grow learning to differentiate between excellent and poor leaders so that they might in turn positively affect the lives of others one day.
I am a married mother of two children. After surviving a severe car accident in which my family sustained serious injury I also suffered at the hands of poor leadership. Finding Excellent Leadership is a short article inspired by my experiences.
