Freelance Writing And Time - Management With Techno Devices
Join 1000's of Authors at StreetArticles Today!

There have been many advances in today's home computing and mobile devices that allow the freelance writer to record ideas for later, or even write an article completely on-the-go. What if your a beginner and find it a relief to have your articles published online an actual reality? The ability to earn money from this too? Well, it seems that freelance writing can certainly bring out the best in us and inform the masses without the worry of being perfect. No college essay strict rules, and the recommendation the freelance articles should only take 30 or so minutes; is one of the most appealing job requirements I have ever witnessed.

There are a few things assumed when imparting these time-management skills or practices. The person most likely has a computer with internet access either at work and/or home, most likely both. Smart phones are at a record high in sales, but PDAs are on a decline due to the power of the smart phone. So, a full-time job at work, full-time responsibilities at home, and maybe even full-time college online or at a campus; is what, 30 hours of activity that gets crunched into 18-20 waking hours 5-6 days a week? (laughs) How will I fit the addition of writing articles into this controlled chaos? Time-management.

I have the guaranteed and simplified list that just requires remembering 4 to 5 principles. Knowing that the average person has to sift through millions of possible responses when searching online, or search through hundreds of pages of text while doing school/college assignments; the conclusion is information overload and the resulting wasting of time. So, the main goal is:

  • Write it Down - make a list of your required daily activities. If time permits, write a seven day list with tasks specific to that day.
  • Revise the amount of Time on Tasks - allocate more time than needed for new tasks. You will find the actual time spent will reduce in less than three days (if they're daily tasks).
  • Keep your list With You - The list is not complicated and you'll remember it even at work or the grocery store, but having it with you will help develop the time restrictions needed to stay on schedule.
  • Use your techno devices - the latest devices use voice recognition and this truly helps while on-the-go and at home.

I bought a new desktop computer early this year and just discovered its voice recognition program! This is another way to help with freelance writing, but not everyone has this capability. It is on my phone as well, so another practical technique for time-management is to use what we have at home, at work, and with mobile computing devices and smart phones. It is amazing what we can accomplish since the days of the typewriter!
