What are you going to use the Google keyword research tool for? Sounds like a bad question? Not really. You can use this tool for different reasons. Keyword research is the foundation of every campaign. Finding a good niche is great but it's only a piece of the puzzle. Lets refresh our memory on what a keyword is, it is a term or phrase people enter into a search engine to find something. Easy enough, right? It is very important to learn how research is done so we can grab these people for our advantage. Lets take a look on how we can use this tool.

Is there a difference between SEO and PPC? Depending on what type of campaign you are planning on doing, there will be a difference into research. Remember this. Relevance is the key to all campaigns!

Article marketing & SEO When your article marketing there is a standard to follow. You should be looking for keywords that get decent traffic but have low competition.

Here is what you should follow with the article keyword research.

  • 5000 or less quoted results: Surround phrase with quotes and search. Scroll down and go to the very last page. Check the search results now at the top and these will be the true quoted results.
  • 300 or more monthly searches: You must use the Google keyword research tool for this search. Enter the phrase and the monthly and global searches will come up.
  • Relevance: Your content must include a 2-5% keyword density to be listed within the search engines naturally.
  • Must be relevant to the product you are promoting: If you want conversions, it is vital to have your content to your page relevant to what was searched for.

PPC In a Pay-Per-Click (PPC) campaign, competition is not exactly as important as relevance is. When your article marketing, traffic is absolute king. With PPC, quality traffic is king.

Here is what to follow for PPC keyword research:

  • Relevant to your ad: The keyword phrase should be in your ad headline and the phrase.
  • Must be relevant to the landing page: The landing page should have the exact keyword phrase within your PPC campaign and this leads to conversions. Example would be, "How to use an electric lawn mower?" This exact phrase better be in your content and heading on your landing page.
  • What you are promoting should be relevant: As simple as this is, better make sure the keywords are relevant to your promotion.
  • Long tail keywords have better conversion: Have a search term with 3 or more words in length. An example would be, "lose weight". This term is very broad and would have trouble converting. A better keyword phrase would be "how fast can I lose weight"? This is more direct and has a much easier time to convert.
  • Low CPC: You should always try to stick to relevance rather than cost. Be careful in picking your keywords because there are a lot of them that are to broad with little cost. Stick with a budget and bid what you can afford.

Using the Google keyword research tool may take some getting use to, but after you master it, it won't take you very long to come up with very good keyword phrases that will rank well with the search engines.

Don't stop now if you want to learn more about the keyword research tool if you succeed in this business. Relevance and learning keyword research go hand in hand in Internet marketing.
