Backlinks make the web go around. Learning how to get quality backlinks is a different story. Sure anyone who doesn't have the knowhow can go around a plethora of different websites and get a link here and there, but did you know that there is a fundamental problem with this? These links, more likely than not, are of low quality and could in the long run, hurt your website rather than give you the boost you want to achieve.
In this article I will explain to you what a quality link is, as well as what places you should go to exactly if you are wanting to obtain high quality backlinks that will make your website climb up the ranks as quick as a flash.
So tell me, what exactly is a quality backlink?
A quality backlink is essentially a link that meets the following three criteria:
- Has relevant anchor text that is specific to your landing page.
- Flows naturally within your unique and quality content.
- Is found within and authorative site.
That makes sense. But how do you get quality backlinks then?
There are many authority websites that provide you with all the necessary tools and resources that you will need to obtain quality backlinks. Some of these include:
Article directories - These allow you (the publisher) to submit your articles to the directory of your choice. In return, you are given the option to add your relevant backlink, that will direct the reader your specific information that ties into your article that is being read. If you are unsure of what this means, well it's pretty easy...you are on an article directory right now!
Here is a list of the top 3 directories that *I* personally recommend you use:
- Streetarticles
- EzineArticles
- ArticlesBase
Web 2.0 websites - Similar to article directories in some ways, “web 2.0” are considered to be more on the interactive and customizable side. Readers on these websites are able to comment your specific information, view your videos, polls and other great little features. Once again, you as a publisher are able to add your links which directs your readers to your website - in effect, creating a backlink.
Here is a list of my preferred web 2.0 websites:
- Squidoo
- Hubpages
- Weebly
Blogs comments - Unlike the above examples, blogs are found to be more on the personal side as well as more niche oriented. Ideally, you want to find a blog that is relevant to your specific niche. By doing this, search engines will be able to see that there is a link back from another website that relates to yours, and in turn, provide your website a boost in the search engine rankings.
It’s worth remembering, when choosing to obtain a quality backlink from a blog, make sure you don’t spam the blog. Instead read the blog post in detail, form your opinion and provide value in your comment.
Social Bookmarks - Another great resource for obtaining quality backlinks. These websites, allow you to "bookmark" a webpage that is of interest to you and make it publicly available for you to share with your friends or with the world. The great thing about social bookmarks, is you can add your specific keywords to your bookmark description and by doing this, creating another high quality backlink that drives more traffice to your website.
Some of the more popular platforms include:
- Digg
- Delicious
As you can see we have only really scratched the surface with the above resources when you are wanting to obtain quality backlinks. There are definitely more opportunities available to you. Learning how to get quality backlinks is the first step. Once you know where to go you will be able to leverage these platforms to boost the success of your campaign or promotion in no time.
