How To Increase Website Revenue

Whether your website is making no money, a little money, or a lot of money the methods to increase website revenue are going to be the same.

Build A List

If you aren't currently building an email list you need to start. When you have an email list you are able to reach the people who visit your website again and keep in contact with them. Not all people who visit will buy something the first time. If they are on your email list you can follow up with them in the future.

The ability to do this can dramatically affect your website revenue. You increase the lifetime value of a customer. Instead of selling them one item and they are gone, you can contact them with future promotions.

Sell Advertising On Your Website

There are a lot of ad broker websites out there that you can join where people will pay to advertise on your website. The amount you can charge for an ad has a lot to do with how much traffic you have going to your website. Since ads are typically sold on a cost per thousand impressions basis you would be hard pressed to find someone to pay to put ads on your website if you only get a handful of visitors each month.

Improve Your Sales Funnel

Another way to increase your website revenue is to make your site easier to navigate. It may seem obvious to you on how to purchase something from your website, but it might not be so obvious to your visitors.

Ask a friend to go through the steps of buying something on your website. They don't have to actually buy the product, just have them get to the order page. Then ask them for their feedback. You might be surprised to find out that your website is harder to navigate than you thought. If the feedback is that it's too complicated or they couldn't figure out how to order, then ask them for suggestions on how to improve the process.

Have Relevant Content

Whether you are writing articles or paying for traffic you will want to make sure the page the visitor lands on is relevant to the article or the advertisment. This will increase the chance that they stay around on the page to find out what you're offering. The more people that stay the more likely you are to sell them what you are offering.

Test, Test, and Test

There are lots of different things you can test and tweak to increase website revenue. The first one that comes to mind is your products price point. More people might buy your product if it were selling for a higher price. You might want try different prices, but make sure you are comparing apples to apples.

Let's say you are selling a product for $10. Out of 100 visitors, 100 of them buy it so you gross $1000. Let's say you change the price to $50. Now out of 100 visitors 50 buy it. Now you gross $2500. It may take some testing to find the right price point, but it is definitely worth the effort.

Other things to test include opt-in forms and sales pages. The better these convert the more money you put in your pocket.
