Do you have some income needed for retirement? Whether you are gearing up to retire or have already retired, this guide will show you how you can enjoy retirement, but create yourself an income that could end up even higher than when you were working! Just read the article, take note of what is being said, then follow the links if you still need to learn more.
The most popular form of retirement income is of course a pension. Unfortunately, pensions aren't what they used to be. There was a time where if you worked for a company for a long enough period, they would pay you a certain amount of money when you retired, forever. Now it is the case that the company will, at best, match the amount you contribute to your own pension every month, and once that money is used up, game over. If you live until you are 100 but your pension only lasts until you are 90, that's tough luck.
Besides, if you are close to retirement or already retired and are looking at this article, you are already aware that your pension is insufficient.
A method now growing in popularity is delaying retirement. My own mother delayed her retirement by 3 years so that my parents would feel more comfortable in their retirement. It's strange isn't it? Make your retirement shorter and later so that you can enjoy it more. Kind of defeats the purpose of retiring. Speaking of which, some people will never have the ability to retire.
Yet others retire early, so how is that possible?
Essentially, all you need to really retire is one thing. Passive income. You need to build that passive income to the level where the money coming in is higher than the money going out. If that income is PASSIVE, and is higher than your expenses, then you are home free. By passive, I mean, you could sit on the couch all month literally doing nothing, and the income would still roll in. That is how you can retire early, and it is also how you can have more income in your retirement. Even if you are already retired, it is not hard to build up some passive income, you could even start today, I recently blogged about some ways to earn passive income.
For some of you, gearing up towards retirement, or already tired, you may be thinking "I don't want to learn something new now, I'm winding DOWN from work, not building UP" and frankly I agree with you, but I'm not talking about something that is difficult to learn, or something that is expensive to get into, if you utilize the right tools and work with the right methods, you can have extra income in a matter of months. Take a deep breath and look forward to a more comfortable retirement, there are many legitimate methods out there.
Nicely done. We don't know how many years we will live, so indeed we need to prepare. Continuing to earn instead of retiring is a good goal for people of all ages.
Good article. I like your reference to the passive income. We should all be taking a serious look at that.
Nice article Dom, a thought to include is people who are near retirement age will have loads of life experiences. They may have traveled they may have been involved in sports, hobbies or other activities throughout their lives which would be a benefit to someone starting out. All they have to do is start writing them down in a blog somewhere I bet there is a goldmine of information all ready to be downloaded.
