Many storefront businesses decide to expand their markets by going on the Internet. I know a couple who sells doll parts. Their business grew tremendously when they went on the Internet. There are many such businesses, many serving what are called “niche” markets.
You can find real products to sell on the Internet by visiting local businesses. A lady farmer here where I live grows lavender and makes lotions and such. She makes about $100,000.00 a year from Internet sales alone. You could visit such a vendor and ask if you can sell her products. Ask if she will drop ship the products to your customers. O.K. Maybe she won't but you can buy the products and ship them to your customers.
You can search for manufacturers in the Thomas Registry or other source and find companies that will sell to you wholesale and perhaps even drop ship for you. I have been doing this for years. Since my products are drop shipped, I never see them. Here is the process: I list the products on one of my websites. A customer selects a product or products and pays for them by credit card or other means. PayPal collects the payment, notifies me of the sale, sends me the money. I have the product shipped by sending the vendor a fax along with my payment to the vendor. The vendor ships the product and I get the difference between the payment received from the customer and the cost of the product and shipping. PayPal takes a small cut for bring my banker.
There are many scams on the Internet. Don't ever by a list of drop shippers. You will most likely just be throwing money away. There are legitimate intermediates such as WorldWideBrands and Doba how take a small fee but take your orders and submit them to the vendors they represent. So you are buying at very near wholesale so your profits are reasonable. This may not be true if you are an affiliate marketer selling real products but are representing a retailer rather than a distributor or manufacturer. Such commissions can be very low. I think they are too low.
Whether an affiliate marketer or a seller of real products you need a landing page that that gives relevant information. For affiliate marketing it is usually not product information. You allow the vendor to do that. But when you are selling real products then you must describe them to your potential customer. He can't feel or smell so you have to use words to create sensations.
So I say “real products.” What do I mean. I mean non-digital products. That is my definition and I'm sticking to it.
