How to get started Internet marketing, you need to first determine your niche. The word “niche” is one of those Internet buzz words that drives me crazy as it is used so often to convey a variety of ideas. However, in this case it simply means that you need to decide what it is you will enjoy writing and blogging about. It can literally be anything, but whatever it is you decide, needs to be consistent and focused on the things within that subject. A more narrowly defined subject is obviously going to be easier to develop your authority and relevance than say a broad topic like the Olympics, or baseball.
Perhaps an aspect of a single Olympic sport would be a niche, or a single aspect of baseball. Let’s look at a few examples. A product based Internet marketing niche might be the footwear for the 880 relay. If you can find an affiliate program that allows you to market the actual footwear of one or more Olympic 880 Relay Teams official footwear, you have a solid niche. This is just an example of course. Another example might be an affiliate program selling high quality bats for women’s softball leagues.
All we have done initially is discover something we ourselves are passionate about, and a product tied to that, which we can market to our readers and subscribers. However, that might just be the easy part, as now we need to do the real work to get our product before our potential customers. To do that, you need a few more things.
You will obviously need access to a computer. I say access, because you can also go to any library and use theirs if you don’t have one, and lack the funds at this stage to get one. You will need a domain, and hosting, so you have your own piece of Internet real estate, or virtual land for your website or shop. So far we have a good idea of how to get started internet marketing.
Now we get to the good parts, earning revenues by monetizing our blog, and writing articles. You have your product of high quality women’s softball bats, so you write blogs on a regular basis of stories and specific related content geared to the women’s softball audience, promoting the bats. This can be very detailed, and very enjoyable. No two people write the same, so pick your style of wit, humor, or informational writing style and methods, and try to stick to that if possible.
Next you will want to drive traffic to your website, or virtual real estate. To do this you want to submit articles relevant to your audience to various directories, and online publishers. You can also join various related forums and casually write great content and have your signature promote your business subtly as well. This activity is ongoing and leads to traffic, or visitors to your site over time. You will want to have an email list to offer as well, using a program such as AWeber, that allows you to stay in contact with your audience on a voluntary basis.
The email you send could simply be a newsletter that includes stories, and advertisements, instructions, lessons, tips, etc. Always offer your customer high quality, yet free content as well. Once they have joined your list, you want to make sure you keep them, as over time they will have opportunities to repeat buys, as you develop more product ideas. Your email list, and website is slowly populated with related offers, freebies, and all things within your particular niche. Your aim is to meet the demands and expectations of your audience, and if you succeed, the results will be an increasing search engine ranking, visitor count, and sales of your products.
Eventually you can develop your own ebook, or join relevant affiliate programs with appropriate products or content, sign up for Google AdSense. It might seem a stretch at this stage, but if you stick with it, imagine having your site rank high with Google on several different popular keywords, and your site content growing in size to a respectable business that has grown in authority and relevance to a loyal following of readers.
This is one Internet marketing how to get started strategy, there are many others out there. The important aspect of this one, is that it doesn’t cost much to get started. You can even use a free Blogger account from Google to learn the ropes, and when you are ready for serious business, upgrade to a free WordPress blog. The learning curve is steep at first, but within a short period, you will come to realize it isn’t very difficult, and is rather easy once you have done it for a few weeks.
