E-zine marketing, webvetising, direct marketing, youtube ads, there are so many types of internet marketing that you could go crazy trying to decide which is best. But, if you think about it, the opportunity from so many resources to bring in so many prospective clients or customers makes deciding on only one quite restrictive. Read over and research each one, and take several that you believe would be a good fit for you, and blast your news out to all of them.
Internet marketing (IM) refers to any outlet to getting your news, advertisement of a service or a product, or any other form of communication out to the masses. This is a form of advertising using the internet (it's actually a broad term, because you can do this through e-mail and wireless devices, as well), and the power of all of these is that at any time, some of your work could go viral, and the amount of traffic that could be generated through the use of the internet is that much more amazing. Here is a list of the most popular outlets for internet marketing that work for me, and a small description. Use this as a quick reference, but then do your own research, and dig down deeper for the inner workings. They will all work to some degree, it all depends on you and how much work you put into it. It goes back to the type of content you have.
Banner ads
The first type we'll discuss is banner ads. These are the most common and generally what you think about when you think of IM. This is where you can place ads on a third party site or blog, and in turn drive their traffic to you own site. These marketing campaigns can potentially get expensive, especially if you want to place your ad on something like Google. However, they work fairly well.
SEM and SEO
Search engine marketing (SEM) is again, the placement of ads, but usually in thos search engines, and by useing other techniques to get ranked in search engines. The same goes for SEO, you are using techniques to get your site ranked on seach engines by using keywords in your blog or site pages, as well as using other means to rank higher and drive traffic. SEO is a very good form of IM if you can get good keywords and work really hard at it. The traffic generated from ranking on the first page of Google search is quite a bit, since the majority of people will not even go to the second page of results.
Using Articles
This is a form of amateur journalism, and works doubly good @ SEO if you write daily. You are generally writing about items that have relevancy to your product or service, and the workings of search engines love new content for the same site on a regular basis, and will generally rank higher. So using keywords in your articles, writing new content and doing it on a daily basis, is an awesome way to get ranked higher and drive more customers to your site or product.
Affiliate Mktg
This is the use of your affiliation with a company. You basically are an extended employee, and you place their ads, or you promote, one of their products, sending your traffic to them, and receiving a commission form any sale or purchase from that person. This is very technical stuff, and each individual person is tagged with your code, so you receive the commission.
Referral Mktg
This is a word of mouth type of mktg. You tell someone about your product, and in turn, they tell their friends, on down the line. This is the original form of advertising, and it works. Sometimes, though, it's at a snail's pace. But, if your product is useful and unique, and people want it, the news will spread.
Video Mktg
This is kind of newer, but you put up a real advertisement or commercial on a video site (Youtube), and people view it. They can either be sent t0 your site, given an address to order from, or any other number of ways that you can generate money this way. This is a fairly new and unique way of marketing, and it is a good way to go viral.
E-mail and Social Media
The new age of IM. Well, email has been around for a while, and this is a type of cold calling. You get lists of emails and you send your ad through their email. I don't highly recommend this for of advertising, because I feel it is somewhat invasive. The kicker, and something that I feel will unleash unlimited power to advertising, is social media. This can be an extremely useful tool for your campaign, and is a better form of word of mouth advertising You put your ad out on all the social networks, and watch it go viral. This is the easiest to get going viral, as it takes the least amount of effort for the receiving party to just resend it out. If you only use one piece of advice or one type of mktg, make it social media. Your efforts will be cut in half.
So, now you see that there are many forms of mktg and advertising. The best bet for you is to use multiple types, and put out an onslaught of information, and make it continuous. Generally, it is said to do this stuff daily, but you can do way more, or you could do less. Their are many factors to generating traffic and getting sales, and this advertising part is just one aspect of it,. You need good content, a product that people need, or some kind of service. I'm not advocating one or the other, but my suggestion would be to use them all. So, experiment, research, and find what works best for you.
