Learning online marketing for an MLM business is just like learning to drive a car. Initially, there is a learning curve as you have to learn all the rules of the road, all the traffic laws, how to be a defensive driver, and how to maintain your vehicle. However, after you suffer through the trials and error, you'll discover that your online marketing skills are like driving your car which has become simple, smooth and automatic.

But there's more to MLM marketing than just learning the skills necessary to be an effective marketer. One also needs to develop some serious self-motivation. This is an important aspect of MLM marketing as one needs to be able to push themselves to do what is required to be successful.

Here are 7 basic tips to help you stay motivated in your marketing efforts as follows:

Do what is efficient and productive

Most beginner network marketers try avoiding the tasks they are least familiar with or have no knowledge about. That's fairly normal, and in the beginning, it's quite okay to do this. For instance, if you don't know how to create a Wordpress blog, then bypass that for now and concentrate on a skill you may be good at performing. Maybe you are good at writing articles, or are good at creating websites. Whatever skills you have, execute those and then add other skills you are not familiar with at a later date. So don't beat yourself up if you don't possess a certain skill. The main thing is to start building your business right away using whatever skills you do know.


As your internet marketing skills progress, you will overcome different obstacles and hurdles. So stop occasionally and take stock of yourself. You might be amazed at how far you have progressed, and you can give yourself a pat on the back.

Develop Habits of Certain Tasks

Successful internet marketers learn to perform certain tasks on a regular basis. For example, they might decide to write articles on Monday, do some blog posts on Tuesday, send out some emails on Wednesday, set up some traffic exchanges on Thursday, and do some videos on Friday. Then they work this schedule week to week. Over time they will begin to see positive results because of all the content they are creating on the internet.

Set Goals

It's important to set goals no matter how small they might seem to you in the beginning. When I train students, I always ask if they have ever made any money online. If not, then we start off with the goal of making that first dollar online. It might seem like a miniscule goal but psychologically, that first dollar can seem like a giant wall that's impossible to scale. However, after it is achieved, then it's not so hard to imagine making that first $25, $50, or $100. From there, the sky is really the limit!

Time factor

When you do set your goals, make sure you set a definite time to have them accomplished. Open-ended goal setting is really no goal at all. And it tends to lead to lazy marketing habits.

Keep Notes

I'm not the most organized guy in the world. But I do have various notepads on my desk where I scribble different notes to myself. The point is, I do keep notes. And you should to. You'll be amazed how quickly you can forget very important things if you do not write them down. It sounds simple but I run across people all the time that do not do this and they vastly improve their business when they start.

Give and Get Support

Don't be afraid to ask for help. One of the benefits of an MLM is that you have a downline and an upline. Your upline are there to help you build your business and they are willing to do this because your success is their success. The more you make, the more they make. And for the same reason you should pass on whatever knowledge you acquire to be successful to your downline. The more successful they are, the more successful you are. Communication is key in an MLM business to not only keep you motivated but to keep your entire team motivated.

So there you have it... 7 basic tips to help you build a successful MLM business. Put these into practice and you can see your productivity increase significantly.
