Internet marketing is most certainly not your average Joe’s job and that is for sure. You can start at any time you want and can work for as long as you want. Want a day off take it and ask who, well no body you are your own boss.
It is all about what I call work freedom, the freedom you never had when working for someone else. You have the ability to have a nap in the afternoon just because you felt like it, go for a swim, drop off and pick up your kids from school.
Like to work at night or on the weekends, maybe just a couple of hours a day is enough for you, working on the internet can give you this kind of freedom.
Of course, everything comes with a price, if you are not at your desk and working on your marketing campaigns no else is either.
That is where planning comes into play; in order to make a living online it takes work and hard work. Not like physical work of course but you, need to spend time on your campaigns to make them successful. The get rich frauds that you see when searching for internet marketing would be nice, but the reality of it is, you have to put in the time to make this work.
It takes self-discipline and a drive for success; it just does not all fall into place overnight. Mind you, we all wish it did, that would make life so much easier.
Think of it, most things that are worth a damn is going to take some effort and working online in your own business is no different from a musician starting out. I mean look at musicians, taking on any gig they can get, traveling around in a bus or a van all over playing anywhere they can for anything they can get.
It takes time and a lot of hard work to make it in that line of work and the internet is not much different, you will get out of it what you put into it.
You can always get that average Joe’s job and at the end of a 40 or maybe 50-hour workweek you will get a paycheck, being paid from the first minute you start working. Working online is not that type of job or career, if you do not learn and go forward with your marketing campaigns you will just spin your tires in the mud and earn nothing. You need to train yourself for the success you are wanting.
As I say, this is not your average Joe’s job it is much better, it may take some time to get a real income started, but when you do. There is no looking back, the education that you get is for real, and for all the hard work you put into it, you will see the results.
In conclusion, internet marketing or starting your own online business is a great occupation as you have work freedom but remember the work doesn’t do itself. You still need to be at the other end of that keyboard to make it all work and always move forward with your training and education.
Thanks Shawn glad you enjoyed it, and thanks on the site....
There are so many parts to IM. I like some parts better than others. The techy stuff drives me nuts. It's a communication business, so you'd better like communicating. The gurus sell their products by pretending you can get a business started, with constant income in a few minutes a day. Now wouldn't that be nice. It's like any business. Im is going to have to share me with the art world. Need to be who I am. That being said, I enjoy IM too.
For sure Joan I find myself in the same frame of mind as you concerning certain parts I enjoy and others I wish some one elsed was there to do....yes the dreaded techy stuff....and some are so good at..jeoulous yes....but I am making it a point to learn new techy stuff....some great new training in the training area....taking advatage of it....Oh the Guru's there are millions of them...like every where you turn pump in marketing and see what you get...lol...Its all good Joan that is the work freedom that is priceless far as I am concerned.... the cash is a close second...talk to ya....
Not being in the IM market, I can imagine it does need discipline. I'm at my computer all day most days, but for pleasure and enjoyment, it gives me something to do. The Street Articles and Blogging, give me a certain responsibility to followers of mine to return the respect they show by looking at and commenting on my posts. I've been away for a week and return to 400+ emails, for the first time I've had to be hard on myself and decide which I'm going to read and look at. It takes planning and dedication of that there is no doubt, yet I still feel guilty when I can't read everything and I think that the dedication to IM must be undertaken like any other job... an 8 hour day minimum and then one should see success....
I have noticed no posts for a while...fiqured, taking some pictures somwhere..:) Sitting down and writing is a huge part of what we do plus actual marketing stradegys and all sorts of fun stuff.....Just to have the followers you have and the comments you get must be a good feeling Iam sure that is part of the enjoyment...It is hard to answer that many e-mails, as you can only want to follow certain things...as we all should be different in life...makes life worth living...lol Discipline is needed to accomplish just about anything on a steady basis.... I would think not many would answer all comments or mail....I know at times I have no time but I do try and some things well Iguess do not interest me.....I see more and more articles in our local paper on pesticides and hormones and in general how our food is presented to the public....confusing and scary.....look forward to your next article....
Thanks Tim I do enjoy the pressure to answer but as you say it sometimes gets out of hand.
Good advice. I agree that you get out what you put in. Thanks for sharing
Unless you were born into wealth, not many things will come your way without hard work, wish it was not so but hey it is....Thanks for your comment....
