Many people are looking for a way to make a living online. There are several online marketing degree programs that will teach you to be a successful marketer. These are traditional marketing classes online. If that is what you are after these will provide you with an online education and allow you to work on your degree on your schedule and around your life. But what if you are looking for internet marketing training and not an online marketing degree program.
Now the game changes a bit. There are a few places where you can get internet marketing training but you need to put on the scam alert goggles. Many of the companies that are trying to teach you about Internet marketing have seen you coming miles away. Here is your typical pitch. First you find them on a Google search. They seem legitimate, the site is interesting, they have a video that plays when you open the page. Scrolling across the screen is text telling you how much you can make overnight. There is usually an upsell associated with these as well. *Alert*. Legitimate companies won’t sell you on the “Make Money Online Overnight” pitch. It takes time to develop any business, Internet Marketing is no different than a traditional business.
Most of the Online marketing degree programs that I have identified focus on three aspects of Internet marketing. Traditional marketing concepts are the first focus of any marketing program. You need to understand the basics of marketing to get the feel of the marketing environment. Next the focus shifts to online technology and the how to of Internet Marketing. This includes creating a website, learning how to drive traffic to your site and effective use of social channels. Finally, the focus shifts to determining a strategy and learning to measure the effectiveness of your marketing efforts. This comes with a pricetag of Twenty to Fifty Thousand Dollars in tuition and fees.
Any program that you undertake should cover all of these aspects. If you don’t see one or more of them covered in your program, this program lacks the necessary skills that you will need to function in the real world as an Internet Marketer.
Are there any good alternatives to spending that kind of money and 2-3 years learning about Internet Marketing? There are a few, most will cost in the range of $50-$100/month. Many programs exist that will teach you one aspect of Internet Marketing that range from $100 to $5000. I have looked at a few of these and I can tell you they are not typically worth the money they are printed on. There is one however that rises above all the rest.
This company teaches all three of the traditional marketing concepts, fills in the blanks with added information and tutorials. It is all organized into course like structures and tutorials. There are traditional tutorials with text and images and many of the tutorials are Video .They even have a very active chat room where other members are always available to answer questions and shoot the breeze. This overcomes one of the biggest problems with learning online, it is lonely. Social interaction not only increases your level of happiness, it allows people to share thoughts and ideas as a testing ground. While this company does not offer a degree program, there are certifications available that will allow you to track your progress through the course work. The best part is that the tuition is much lower than a traditional degree and you can start without any cost to you.
