Six months have passed and the glow of being retired has worn off. You realize you have way to much idle time on your hands. Your spouse is aggravated because you are turning into a couch potato. It has become obvious that you can't afford to golf everyday so what are you going to do with all that extra time?
Well you could volunteer at one of the many agencies needing help but would that satisfy you? Volunteering works for some people and not for others. You could get a part time job. Okay fine but which one? There are a lot of part time jobs available. Would they suit your needs? Probably not. The problem with those types of jobs is that you are tied down. Tied down by the employers hours and their needs. Maybe you have a tee time every Wednesday. Maybe the employer needs you on Wednesday. Maybe this isn't the type of work you want to do.
You have just finished years of answering someone else's bell. Isn't it time you considered answering a bell of your own. It's really not as hard as you might think. There is one avenue that lets you determine your own schedule, your own workplace and how much you will earn. That avenue is internet marketing.
Sounds a little scary doesn't it. The fact is with the right education and devoting some of that spare time developing an internet marketing strategy you can achieve the goals of setting your own schedule, working from home or where ever you might be and determining how much you will make.
There are many types of internet marketing. You just need to find one that works for you. You can find which one suits your needs several ways. You can research the different types of internet marketing on the internet. Google will return more information than you can handle. Maybe that's not such a good idea. The idea that made the most sense to me was to join an organization that showed me the different avenues and how to become involved.
Yes there was a fee involved but it was a modest fee. Internet marketing is just like any other endeavor. You get what you pay for. Before you spend any money, do the due diligence. Use Google to find some training organizations. The good ones should show up on the first page. Check a few of them out. If they are making million dollar promises pass them by. Zero in on the ones that tell you up front what they can help you with and what their charges are. The one I belong to has a modest monthly fee which I can opt out of at any time.
Wouldn't you rather develop a business that let you earn an income but still enjoy your retirement instead of getting a part time job that ran your life?
I would imagine that a lot of retired people find it difficult to build structure around their days having been used to the routine of 9 to 5 for so long, gaining a new skill and building structure through internet marketing would certainly be something worth considering.
Thanks for the comment Rob. Sounds like you're a busy man. I also need to keep busy. I just can't seem to slow my mind down and the Internet seems to be a place I can keep my mind active
Good article John, as a six month er myself I have found a certain amount of boredom creeping in. I have a computer program under development that will be internationally marketed when finished. I have to keep myself available to the company writing the program for consultancy. This inhibits me from looking for full time employment to keep myself busy, but I have started a consultancy for garden owners and golf courses as a part time "something to do" exercise. I will never be able to retire, I have to keep busy or I may as well pass on. But the Internet has got me fascinated and will be a future option for myself to keep on the go.
John, True, true! Thanks for your examples. Best wishes with your Internet marketing. It does take time yet you get to set your own hours, so you can put a lot more in whenever you want. blessings, Cynthia
