The project management professional (PMP) certification will definitely enhance your career potential. Along with getting recognition from your employer, clients and peers, the designation can further help you in joining large and multinational companies. But the certification test will require you to spend some time in learning all aspects of project management. Also, you have to complete 35 hours of formal project management education to become eligible for the certification exam.
Similar to other courses, you have options to complete the training in a traditional classroom or an online environment. Each method of training prepares you to clear the PMP exam and acquire the desired designation. However, you need to consider the online project management training programs, if you want to complete the course in a flexible and convenient way, and at your own pace.
1. Flexible Study Schedule: When you decide to avail the PMP training in a classroom setup, you have to attend classes on a regular basis. Also, you have to complete the training based on the study schedule decided by the educational institution. If you have not joined any company, it will not be difficult for you the attend classes on a daily basis. But you can neither attend classes regularly nor can you follow a predetermined schedule, if you are already working as a project manager. As you have to spend long hours in managing and leading projects, you have to choose the online training programs to get the education at your own pace.
2. Access to Online Study Materials: While pursuing the project management training, you have to refer to the latest edition of PMBOK, along with several books written by eminent authors and experts. As cannot carry the study materials throughout the day, it becomes essential to explore convenient options to access the study material. Each online PMP training provider allows learners to access the study material posted on their websites. Further, some training providers even allow learners to download the content, and study without having internet connectivity. The online study materials can also be access from your desktop computer, laptop, tablet PC and smartphone.
3. Assistance of Qualified Trainers: A large number of learners opt for the traditional classroom based learning models to avail the assistance and guidance of a qualified trainer. With a hands on trainer, they can easily clear their doubts and monitor their progress. But many online training providers, nowadays, deploy qualified in-house trainers to help the learners. You can easily contact the trainers through phone call, voice chat or emails. These options will further make it easier for you to clarify your doubts without requiring any additional help. When you are evaluating the online training options, it is important to check if the training provider has deployed in-house trainers or not.
4. Practice Tests in an Online Environment: Irrespective of the online or offline training model selected by a learner, the PMP certification examination will be conducted in an online environment. Along with providing training on various project management topics, the online training providers further help learners to evaluate their progress by attending mock tests. These tests are designed specially to prepare the learners to answer the questions within a stipulated timeframe. Once you appear for these mock tests, you will be prepared to attend and clear the final Project management certification exam in a single try.
