What makes a keyword search engine tool on the market today? What are the criteria for being any good? It would have to include, providing good quality keywords, showing monthly search traffic, showing estimated traffic for being placed on page one of Google, and showing the strength of competition. I think these are all requirements of being a good keyword search engine tool. I have tried a few over the last year and I have to say there are some that qualify to be mentioned but there is one more piece of criteria and that’s the price. Some are very expensive especially for an Internet marketer who is just staring out. Of these some require a monthly subscription while others are a one off payment. There are however a few that have a trail period and if you are strapped for seed money then I would go for these before you have to start spending your hard earned money.
Those of you new to affiliate marketing will I'm sure be struggling to make any sense of the vast amount of information on the internet. You will have come across the terms SEO and keywords on probably every site you read and wondering how to generate these yourself. I know I scratched my head for a while looking around for a tool to help in the process. As I was new to the game I had little or no money and didn't want to have to spend loads on a tool when I wasn't sure if I could use it to be productive for me. So what are we looking for?
Traffic: it is very important to marketers that the keywords they are searching have traffic and this is true however getting caught up on how much traffic can be a dangerous drawback. I have seen myself getting obsessed with traffic, how many searches a month and if I make it to page one on Google how much estimated traffic am I assuming will I get. Then I realised that this is not the most important factor!
Strength of competition: this is for me the most important element. If you are putting your faith and hard work into a keyword that get loads of traffic but you can only get placed on page 2 or 3 on Google then you might as well forget it. The percentage of searchers who go to these pages is very low, do you? I know I don’t unless I’m really stuck for a good first page site to help me. Therefore strength of competition is more important than traffic. However if you hit the magic keyword and have loads of traffic with low completion then you are on to a winner and if you set up your campaign correctly to draw this traffic to your monetised website blog etc then you should reap financial rewards. Having 1000 hits per month and being on page 2 will not give you a lot of traffic. So being on page 1 and getting 50 hits a month is more beneficial to promoting your site etc.
Whatever keyword search engine tool you decide to use keep this in mind and you will be a step further along in your goals of achieving good traffic.
Helpful article, Mark. It's hard to find good keywords these days that have low competition. It seems everyone is looking for them. That's why the keyword sites you mentioned are so beneficial. thanks.
With Googles latest update there has been a lot of website dropped from the indexed listings so there are now more great keywords available than ever. What a great time to start a new campaign.
Its' the SA article I am trying to rank, my website is too new/too little content to rank. My articles are in the travel/hotel accommodation section" "Tips on finding hotels in kuala lumpur city centre" - keyword "hotels in kuala lumpur city centre" Another article is "hotels near kuala lumpur airport" which is the keywords too!
Hi Eugene that keyword you choose is competitive for only approx 10 hits per month. Its not really worth the effort. I found "hotels kuala lumpur city center" which has only 3 websites competing against it for 14 hits per month. You can get this traffic without having to complete for it. "hotels city centre kuala lumpur" has 28 per month for 16 competition also good to use. I would write 2 more articles for these 2 keywords and post on SA are 2 more articles directories but make sure you re-write the articles DO NOT copy your content. Then ping all your articles with ping o matic and pingoat and share on G+ pin FB and tweet. Drop me a PM on WA when you have posted and I'll share them for you on WSS. I would consider joining them its free and we all help each other share our content. Let me know if you want. tommo1968 is my profile. Good Luck!
Thanks -) I have post it in pininterest, facebook, google+ and tweet it. I have tried posting it on other social media as taught in WA but I don't see much results. The niche I 'm at is competitive though, so you're right there.
One thing is it the website post or SA article you are trying to rank here. If you give me your website and article in question I can take a look to see if I can help.
guys, one question. I have a few long-tailed keywords, according to Jaaxy it is a low competition keyword (<200) but the keyword does not appear in page 1 at all when I write an article, it appear in page 3 or 4. You guys experience it ? I wonder.
Its not a given fact that an article will rank on page 1. If there are 200 QSR then that means there are 200 sites competing against that word. Which makes 20 pages of Google results. Another thing to consider is the quality of competition you need to check out the first few pages ranked and see if you can deliver something more relevant to push them from their location. You need to socialize the article to get it to move further up the ranking. How are you doing that at present?
Hey mark I just passed by to say hallo and also to let you know that Jaaxy if life and blood to me in my article writing world . Should you have a better alternative to Jaaxy, then may it please you to let me know. Thank you very much
I am using Jaaxy. Give it a try, so far it is good to me !
Yes Eugene I use Jaaxy too, this article used to have a link to it but I removed it recently. Have to build a new page for it.
You're right - whatever keyword search engine tool you use you'll be further along that flying solo. Hitting the magic keyword for your work takes effort over time. Street Articles does a good job of helping our articles to the top of the traffic jams. But added oomf of doing the search preparation so you've got words that people use in searching makes a big difference. Good article!
Thanks Cynthia, it is important to do the research correctly before working on a campaign. I would try for the the good keyword to buy the domain under then half a dozen or so good strong contenders for articles along with loads of low lying fruit for additional links to the pages or SA articles to boost traffic. All these add up to produce traffic that can then be monetized after the traffic is coming.
Thanks Garry, its worth taking a look as its free to try for 30 searches.
Good info Mark...Just started the free tour of Jaaxy...is a great keyword tool
I agree Strength of competition is key to success. Its a lot easier getting ranked when the comp is low...Thanks for sharing.
This is especially true if you're getting started promoting a new product that not a lot of people are marketing yet. If you can establish yourself as an authority, you can build a network of incoming traffic avenues from related social media sites, article sites, etc. Search engines are still very important, but they aren't the be all and end all that they used to be, and you need to create a "total solution" for your prospective customers in which your site is one of the most relevant in a search, not only because it's targeted, but because there are a lot of people elsewhere on the 'net giving you their third party "stamp of approval." This is why I like Jaxxy, WA, and the other "Kyle & Carson" resources. Their tools and tutorials have changed with the times, while others haven't yet.
Thanks for the comments Andrew. Yes setting up a brand is important.
