Where to Find Jobs Online the Quick And Easy Approach

Job searches are often time consuming, frustrating, and sometimes difficult for people who have never searched for a job online before. The internet offers many opportunities to find a job and to make your job search visible to potential employers. The key point to remember is that a job search should be focused and you should be as flexible as possible.

The Place to Start Your Job Search Online—Curriculum Vitae or Resume

Develop your resume or curriculum vitae and have it in a text file or MS Word document, or any file in which you can do a copy and paste. Two good places to post your resume are in LinkedIn and Facebook Branchout. Put a link to both of these in your signature file on your email messages. LinkedIn will send messages to you with listings of jobs for which you qualify.

The First Place to Look for Jobs Online--Local Employers

Do a search for the city page for where you wish to work, i.e. your home town or a town where you no others. Find a list of the major companies. Google each of the companies, find their employment page (often found as a tiny listing on the bottom of the web page under contact us or about us or employment). Once you have found their employment page, search for your job title or if only a few listings, through them all in case you have limited or many skills.

Look for part time jobs at UPS, they often pay competitive wages.

The Second Place to Look for Jobs Online--State Unemployment Offices

Most states have a unemployment office and a jobs listing. Applicants can often fill out a resume online (cut and paste from your resume) and immediately apply directly for the jobs listed in this database. Most jobs listed in the state database often have a wait period before applicants can expect to receive an answer. If there is a job especially of interest, Google the business name, find their address and visit their office directly to follow up.

The Third Place to Look for Jobs Online-Online Job

A number of job search companies supply listings and search features. Try the following places:

America's Job Exchange

The Fourth Place to Look for Jobs Online--Friends and Social Media

Email your resume to your friends and ask them to pass it along to any employer that might need your qualifications. Links in a message about looking for a position posted in social media applications like Empire Avenue, Twitter, Quora might work.

Street Talk

Let me suggest also that people use aggregate sites such as Indeed and SimplyHired. They list opportunities from most other internet job boards, and setting up alerts at these sites can save an enormous about of time. It's putting your online job seeking effort on autopilot. By the way, seeking employment using only online job boards is the least effective job search method. Please consider using the two most effective: networking and referral building, and contacting employers directly.
