Let The Little Ones Organize

On project day, you will need to have all your tools in order so that you won’t have to run around the house looking for paint brushes and screwdrivers. Get all the tools out the night before and just place them in the kitchen. On the morning of the project, have the kid (or kids) place them in the area where you will be working. Hand Them “Stuff” To Put Down

I know you’re going to have a heart attack on this part, but it’s really not that big of a deal. Make sure the kid is wearing something that you don’t mind them messing up and show them how to paint. Guide their hands and then let them take a few strokes on their own. This will help them to feel a sense of accomplishment and you will have an experienced DIY helper in no time. While they’re painting, keep an eye out for their technique. Although they’re kids, you have the ability to perfect certain things that they do while they’re young. Don’t assume that they just want to play. Kids love to help and know that they’re doing the job right

Reward Them

After your kitchen cabinet refacing project is over, sit down and have a glass of lemonade with the little one. They worked hard and deserve your praise. Let them know that you appreciate their help and find something else for them to help you with in the future.

By keeping them busy doing what you’re doing, you will worry less about where they are, more about what else they can help you with! Give your kid a chance and they will surprise you, especially when helping with a project like kitchen cabinet refacing.
