Last weekend my cousin Timmy had his wedding at the Hippodrome Theater in Richmond,VA and I had an honor of being his best man and was with him the whole day up until the ceremony and afterwards. I am very thankful than I was presented with an opportunity to be there for Tim in time of need and to be the best friend and best man i could possibly be. With that being said...
I really have to say that out of all the wedding I have been to, including my own, Timmy's just had that spark which I don't remember seeing before. It wasn't super expensive, because, well, the guy and his folks aren't rich by any means, so aside from renting out the Hippodrome, everything from the limousine service all the way to the napkins at the guest tables was fairly inexpensive. I honestly believe that the space rental was a gift from our uncle Bernard. He's got vineyards and land in Charlottesville where he makes a ton of money off of it. Enough about Timmy's wealth or lack of there of...
The morning of their special day was sunny, yet a little chilly... We were up at 6 am talking with Tim because he "didn't feel like it was the right thing to do" and I had to convince him otherwise. What can I say? I am a people person... So, we got through all the crying and doubt by about 9 am and then the limo showed up and the fun actually began.
I give props to the driver Dave for being amazing company to all of us. He has been working for that limo company for only 2 months and have become their most popular and most requested driver. I was the one calling and reserving the limousine service, the dj, entertainer and the photo booth for the wedding and clearly remember how the owner was recommending Dave. The photo booth I booked was half off and ended up being a bargain deal. The guys came over early in the morning, set the booth up in less than an hour and then came back to pick it up while giving us an extra hour of photo booth time at no additional charge. The invoice stated that it was a gift to the newlyweds! I was amazed with the quality of service provided especially as they're a young company giving out a 50% off deal!
I was also completely blown away by the entertainer. His name was Mark, at least that's how he introduced himself to us. I've found the guy on craigslist, because I felt like being cheap, but I didn't expect such an amazing outcome.
I've gotten a bargain deal for all but the DJ and his services which were the ones I could only rate as "Meh". I'd rather get a professional dancer to show us a few moves...
I really want to emphasize how important it is sometimes to simply try out the new company on the block or the person offering his or her services on craigslist versus the established brands, celebrities and big companies.
Just give them a try and I promise that you won't regret it!
