List Building techniques- Employing the One Time Offer Method

When people go to all the effort of creating an opt in list, they often will set it up so that a person may actually get the product offered from a download page and then, leave it at that. However, what about considering the following and really turning this into a profitable transaction for all concerned? I am referring to helping your clients get the best out of their recent sign up or purchase and follow on in what is already a process of receiving.

Let me explain.

When a person signs up, they are taken to a thank you or download page. Certainly you can have your product as promised there but I also recommend having an option there too. When I say an option, I mean having what is often referred to as an upsell. This means that you can actually make more money from the upsells than you can from the lead in base product. However, please remember to always place relevant items there and do not just try to milk your clients for all you can get. I have been through some sites where there are like ten upsells and downsells and I really was starting to get frustrated. There is a healthy limit or balance, and I feel one or two is best at most.

This way, you will be offering value, whilst not actually alienating your new client. I have seen some people unsubscribe from this sort of list just because they were annoyed and frustrated by all the extra steps and choices they had to follow. However, when this method is exercised in moderation, and well thought out, it is very effective indeed.

In addition, you can also include various offers in your email follow on messages. As an example, if you have provided a client with a piece of software, or an ebook, you could well email them in a few days and ask how they are going with the product. In so doing, you can also mention that if they are as happy as you hope they are, they may want to purchase resell rights or even private label rights where they are allowed to resell the product after making some changes to it. This can be very lucrative for you. You are really only limited by the ideas you can come up with.

The whole point I am wanting to make here is that you have put a lot of effort into getting sign ups and creating your offers in the first place. Based on this, you are entitled to get a return for your list building efforts. I again will remind you that creating video sales letters or even links to videos in your emails will be very powerful for you too.
