When it comes to creating opt in or squeeze pages, many people only tend to concentrate on the actual sign up page and tend to forget about the rest. Whilst it is certainly very important to make sure you have a great offer on your offer page and certainly have all your code in place from your autoresponder company, we need to now think about the next steps. Expecting that you have done a good job and motivated your prospect to enter their name and email, what now? The next phase would be that they receive a welcome email from you.
Would you be surprised to read that many people actually leave their autoresponder system at that. Many people, obviously not well versed as yet, create a welcome email and then forget about the rest. This gives a new meaning to the term 'leaving money on the table'. Essentially, it's important to think about all that relationship building that can now be built and capitalized on. Essentially, it is a good idea to use what I call a pre-loaded series of emails to your list that will receive them at pre determined intervals. Sometimes, it can be every day, other times, every other day. It depends on the type of audience you are aiming at. The secret is being consistent and open to your readers.
One recommendation that I follow regularly is that in the first email or two, I introduce myself, and recommend you do this too. This way, you are not a stranger to your readers. This way, you also are able to explain the format that your future emails will be taking, in this way, you can then send out a freebie piece of useful information in the next two emails or so and finally send out a promotion, By this stage, your readers will be feeling like they know you more. I know it seems silly, but it really does make a difference in email marketing. Keep your readers informed and always write as if you are talking directly to them.
May I suggest that you also include a bonus when you are offering a promotion? This way you are giving the impression of scarcity and this will entice people to act. We are all susceptible to being a little lazy and not acting. I certainly have been through a stage where I had a few hundred 'to read' emails. We all know what happens- we just get fed up and delete the whole lot. Not a good practice, I know.
Hence, you need to encourage action in your emails and as long as you are prepared to give great information, your readers will be OK with it. It is also imperative to make sure you have at least one hundred mails in your funnel of emails to be sent out. This way, you will be able to concentrate on other projects once you have written the emails, and may occasionally have to only send out a broadcast email. An example of this might be to wish your readers a happy holiday. This should never be programmed in advance as you don't know if the autoresponder sequence will line up with the falling of holidays.
In order to maintain a healthy mail opt in rate, make sure to always be providing well crafted emails and offers so as to reduce the possibility of unsubscribe actions. It is recommended to ensure that you have a short video created of your offer on your opt in forms as well, or even a link to a video fro your emails.
