Retirement and not having enough cash in your pocket is not really a pretty picture. Not to say you haven’t saved for the big day, the real question is how long will it last and how much is enough?
How to surpass cutbacks, inflation, car repairs, new washer and anything in-between. Think of it if you have replaced something once or twice in a life time you will surely be needing to replace it one more time, yes. If we all eat, right and exercise, enough of that, another time and place perhaps, not here.
We the baby boomers are the generation that is never going to die, or at least go out kicking all the way. So in the day and age that houses can cost more than 20 times a family’s income, repairs are more crazy expensive even if you can do them yourself, never mind needing to hire a professional to do the job.
So many things to think of that could, would, and probably will go wrong again in your lifetime, we hope. They say we are living longer, of course different for other places around the world, but here in North America according to the World Bank here in Canada, it is 81 and in the States, it is around 79 years of age.
That sure is a lot longer than our fathers were given or our grandparents, in 1960 in Canada life expectancy was around 71 and 70 in the States, big change. Imagine what the numbers are going to be in just 10 years they are sure to keep on going up, so see we will live forever, or it will just seem that way.
How you do save enough for what might seem a lifetime of retirement even if you have a good pension it had better be damn good. In most cases, what you retire with just does not keep up with time or any ones expectations as many are cut year after year. Alternatively, cost you more out of pocket money.
With all the responsibilities you have the grand kids your sports and just plain relaxing ( you are retired after all) doing anything full time is not going to get done, so what.
Part time must be the answer and doing what part time, running around and doing the usual part time type of job is not that appealing, you have done that been there.
Time for something new and exciting what about part time marketing on the internet, sounds doable, others are doing it, and surely you can learn it. It is just like any other kind of education I would think, know nothing or very little walking in, and know something walking out.
Part time marketing on the internet you can do this right into the future and have no real need to stop as over time you will be an expert at marketing on the internet and have some cash to show for it. Happy retirement, your choice.
Enjoyed your article. Like your comment about part-time marketing on the internet. So many seem to get caught up on doing it full time now and making a lot of money. Part time seems more manageable.
Then it leaves time for play....we all need play Rick......thanks for the comments.....and yes much more manageable.....
Thanks Shawn retiremnet can be exciting if you put the effort into it....
Good points Tim, we all need to keep mentally active as we enter the Senior years, Keith
So they say use them or lose them muscles or brain they must be used....why not put them to use making some extra cash...thanks Keith
Good points. I believe we all should plan on continuing to work with part time marketing jobs as you say.
I think in most cases their will be no choice and IM is a great alternative to the usual 9-5 grind, it can be done forever and on your own terms....that is the biggest draw....thanks Cynthia..
I definitely think this is a great idea. A very good way to keep "older minds" sharp & make some money along the way, I tried & tried to get my mom to sit down with me & let me teach her a few things about a computer. Nothing doing, too intimidated by it. While her sister (my aunt), loves it and sends me emails all the time.
Some people embrace change some run away, some just like it the way it is, it is all good.....thanks Meredith
