You don’t have a partner on Valentine’s Day, So what? Get over yourself, go out there and show someone else some love. Stop sitting around, moping and hating today just because you do not have someone to give you teddy bear, chocolate or flowers. So? Do people without moms hate Mother’s Day? Do people without dads hate Father’s Day? No, so why should you hate today simply because you don’t have a significant other?
Because you’re single on Valentine’s Day does not mean you suck at relationship. The most important thing is to try not to fall into patterns of rumination, doubting your ability to love and fearing that you’ll never find someone special.
It’s about love. And not just love between couples. It’s about loving everyone you can and showing them love in anyway that you can. Why should you have to be excluded from today just because you don’t have a significant partner?
You hate being around your friends because you don’t want to listen to them complain about having to buy gifts for their partners or about having no gift ideas in mind. You wish you had someone to buy gifts for or at least someone to buy gifts for you. Yes, Valentine’s Day is the day of love, romance and passion, but that does not mean you do not deserve to make the day memorable.
The real danger of being alone on Valentine’s Day surrounded by the sights and sounds of romance and love, is dwelling on the fact that you’re not part of it. You image4.jpgstart questioning why you don’t have anyone, or why you lost the person you recently had. Rather than dwell on being single; try to treat yourself, spend time with friends and family, do things you will do any other day of the year.
Perhaps you remember Valentine’s Days past, when you exchanged cards, flowers, perfumes, and chocolates, enjoyed the candlelight dinner, walked through the city holding hands or went for the movies. And maybe you think of the Valentine’s Days you never had, the crushes you never talked to, the dates that didn’t work out.
Remember that February 14 is one day out of the year just like any other. A day to further your goals and live your life no matter what anyone else is doing. It may sound strange, but it’s only a big deal if you let it be a big deal. You’re single for a reason and that’s because you haven’t met someone worth your while. Never ever pity yourself or your status. Wouldn’t you rather wait for the right one than spend your evening with the wrong one?
