Green Superfood: Kiwis

You probably have heard of super foods such as broccoli, blueberry, black beans , salmon, green tea and so many others. The emphasis of including these foods into our daily diets is mainly because they have something more to offer than our regular foods do. They have powerful antioxidants which help to lower cholesterol, help reduce cancer and heart problems and help to take care of you immune system. Healthy eating can be hard for busy people . The tendency to get fast food is always there but adding a few super foods can benefit your skin, hair, heart and even lighten your mood. Doctors advise us to include them in our diets because of their tremendous effects on bodies and you should stock on these for the summer and did i mention they don't have side effects!!!. They are good.

Kiwis are another super food you can stock up on. They are also known as the Chinese gooseberry which is a fruit with a hairy like skin which is also edible too. There two types of kiwis mainly identified by their colors in green and gold. The green kiwis are more fuzzy looking than the golden kiwis. Gold kiwis are much sweeter than the green kiwis but are nutritionally the same.

They have alot of vitamin C which help us against cardiovascular diseases, prenatal health problems, eye problems skin wrinkling and many other immune problems. One kiwi is said to have more vitamin C than an orange, so we can substitute them and even gain more. You can wash the skin and rub off the little fuzzy hair and eat it just like hat. The skin is good too!!! You should eat the flesh of the fruit since it is said to have 2 grams of heart fiber which is also good for you and by eating the skin you add on 4 grams of fiber. Just eat it like an apple.

Other way you can eat them is by adding them in a smoothie. I enjoy them in green or fruit smoothies with other fruits , ice cream, yogurt. They are amazing. You can make a tangy smoothie with them but adding a half a cup of yogurt, half of an orange, six strawberries, one kiwi and a few ice cubes for a chill effect to a blender. Blend them on high and serve.

You can make a fruit salsa with them too. Chop up few kiwis , mangoes, red onions and tomato and serve as a fruit salsa or salad for a healthy snack during the day.

Stock up on these for the summer for your healthy diet to help you maintain weight, fight heart problems and live longer. You can buy them from your local grocery or even buy them organic which is even better.

Didn't know you could eat the skins. I always peel them. I think kiwis are delicious and beautiful too. I like to cut them in slices, crosswise, to see the seed pattern. They are very good in a fruit salad. Thank you for the informative article.

Kiwis? I had no idea how good that kiwis are for us. That's great news for me. I enjoy kiwis. Sometimes I wash them, cut them in half and eat them out of the "shell" of the outside. Either way, I suspect I cut them in half. Nibbling from the edge when I eat the skins, which is often. Thanks for an informative health article.
