With more than 1,850 exhibitors in 19 halls and 314,500 visitors from 130 countries during the fourteen days, the Drupa this year, confirming its status as the world's largest and most important fair in the printing industry.
Declined from 20% in the number of visitors compared to Drupa 2008, as a result of world economic events, could be expected. Specifically, the structure of visitors has changed - in Dusseldorf no longer come large delegation of representatives of companies, here are top managers who make decisions and finish the business deals on the spot. A smaller number of visitors are, inevitably, an indirect consequence of another trend - reduction of the total volume of printed pages and growing needs for optimum production, in the right quantities at the right time.
When it comes to the dominant themes at Drupa 2012 the focus was on automation, packaging printing, digital printing, hybrid technologies, web-to-print applications and environmentally justified forthcoming.
The largest number of visitors, as many as 40%, was interested in digital printing machines, which indicates that the emphasis this time prevailed in favor of the transition from analog to digital printing. Although 94% of the total printed pages continue to print on analog technology - convert to digital technology is a segment where the majority of customers recognize the value of graphics technology and clearly sees himself in the future.
Taking into account that the income of companies engaged in digital printing revenue now exceeds that achieved by conventional offset printing, it is evident why the interest for the transition to digital printing is growing day by day. In the race for growth and profit in the press, a leading position now definitely belongs to the digital printing technology.
One of the most important messages of this year's Drupa is sure that the capital investment appears to be returning to the printing industry, according to a number of sales contracts signed during the two-week fair. It is obvious that many companies believe that the worst of the crisis is behind them, and are safer in terms of future investment. Equally reassuring are statements concerning the number of exhibitors generated business contacts, many of which promise the realization of sales in the future.
Scodix - the new role of the press
Scodix, a new supplier of digital systems in the field of printing industry, has won the award as the booth with the most taking samples - 250,000 B2 sheets previously printed in offset or HP Indigo technology with primer Scodix SENSE effect - separate UV varnish - matt and glossy, the density of 1 to 100% in the same passage, in addition to separating gloss.
This fact attests to the fact that the press today, is leaving the role of the media to transmit information and is increasingly focusing on the induction of aesthetic impression of printed material.
Every visitor to the stand, on average, took 1.5 sheets printed samples during Drupa 2012 in Scodix digital printing machines for separate varnishing, embossing, printing Braille letters and shine coating in the B2 and B3 format, and thus confirmed Scodix as a big innovator in the printing industry.
Seeing the possibility of adding new values to printed sheet and creating space for larger profits per product, Scodix machines became part of 20 new customers during Drupa 2012.
