Manageartworks Viewer Capabilities – Part 3

Checklist

The system supports a checklist that can be used across all types of artworks. The checklist is managed and controlled by the admin user. The checklist is configured to include items that each reviewer needs to check and categorized by department, by component type, by category and by market. The same checklist can be used across multiple departments and product categories.

Once the checklist is setup, reviewers will automatically see them load into the viewer when they open an artwork file. The checklist that is loaded into the viewer is specific to that user, for that product category, for that component type and for that market. E.g. the checklist may be different for the Packaging Department and the Regulatory Department, for the Biscuits category and for the Chips category, for Labels and for Cartons, for the German market and Brazilian market.

Users can use the checklist items to check the artwork and mark a Yes, No or Not Applicable status for that item. A comment can also be made against each checklist item. Once the checklist is completed, users can submit the review process. Users also have view only access to the checklist filled in by other users. This increases the collaboration between stakeholders as users can now see what other’s have reviewed and commented.

Review

During the review process, users can not only view the checklists filled in by other users, but also see the annotations made by other users. Users cannot edit or change another person’s annotation but can view the comments marked on the artwork. To do this, a Review option is provided. The Review option allows users to select and view other people’s annotations.

This feature is especially useful when the comments from the reviewers are returned to the initiator. The initiator can now see the comments individually and make a decision on which changes to action on. The review option is also used by the Design person to step through each annotation and make note of the changes requested.

Version Compare

The system allows the user to compare two versions of an artwork. This comparison is a pixel comparison and every pixel that is different between the artworks are highlighted.

There are two ways of compare:

1. Automatic Alignment: Used when the layout, orientation and size of the two artworks are exactly the same. Artworks which have the same layout and placing will compare automatically without any human intervention.

2. Manual Alignment: User can align the artworks, if the alignment (in terms of rotation or position of the artwork) is different. This alignment is done by asking the user to click on two corresponding points on the PDF versions. The system then aligns the artwork based on these selected points. Users can also rotate one of the artworks to match with the orientation of the other.

The output of the comparison can be visualized in the following ways,

1. Side-by –Side: Both the versions are loaded side by side and the user can scroll or rotate synchronously, to view the differences

2. Flicker: The system switches between the two versions rapidly to highlight differences that the human eye can perceive.

3. Differences: Pixel differences between the two artworks are highlighted in red color.
