In marketing, the "follow up" is key to success. Every marketer knows this, whether they are online or offline. The problem is most internet marketers never think about marketing offline. Sure maybe they hand out a business card when opportunity presents itself but, this is not enough. You have to market offline to the same people you market to online. People are becoming numb to email especially a follow up email. If this weren't true then spamming would not exist. Sure, if you send a million emails or call a million people the odds are you will gain a handful of customers. But, I can guarantee they will not be repeat customers because you did not establish a personal relationship.

Send them a personalized thank you card...that's right a card,one of the oldest forms of marketing around. I've managed to increase call backs by more than 10% using a direct mailing campaign. This is because there are very few people marketing this way. When is the last time you had a card mailed to you? Once a year for your birthday or maybe Christmas. But, think about the times you do get something in the mail when you weren't expecting it. The feeling you get then is why this type of marketing works. Because people remember that feeling and they have something they can actually touch.(unlike email)
You need to remember one thing when marketing like this. It is not effective to slam your cards full of offers or deals or reminders of your services. This simply needs to be a personalized "Thank You" card. Just to let them know that you genuinely appreciate the time they took to read your email or go to your website or talk with you on the phone. If you are not genuine in your approach, the potential customer will know and you will lose their trust immediately.
