It’s fitting that I write this article today on my article schedule because this morning I attended a networking event with about 12 business owners who were all networking and I actually went to talk about Internet marketing strategies for small businesses. Every small business owner probably has had enough of this topic with salesmen trying to sell them SEO packages to social media packages; and then on the other spectrum you have small business owners who do not have a website because they are scare of the technicalities it may be associated with. I want to simply share some things I shared with the group of business owners I met with today, and share it with you here. If you own a small business it matters not if you are a chiropractor or a car salesman; you need to have your web presence solidified. Anything less will only keep you average. So what are some things you can do right away to help your website become known online for what you do so your target audience can find you?
You can first start by signing your business up with online directories. Especially for business to business; but also for regular business to consumer when people search these directories help out. Some people actually search through those directories; so you can get a lot of prospects just from being on the important directories for your business.
Another thing you can do is to write articles that give people the solutions to their problems or lets them in on things to look for when selecting a business in your industry. A plumber can write on what to look for when hiring a plumber or how to fix a toilet without a plumber. As articles accumulate you will see a constant flux of traffic to your website. And for local or small business, people come to your website because they need help and they are going to buy; you just need to be sure you are in position to help them so they make the purchase with you.
Then you can add certain tricks and things to get so-called black hat traffic to your website. I call this method the side-door method. Everyone may be use to one URL for your business such as; marksplumbing but they can come to your house and enter in by the ‘side door’ by you simple buying an additional domain based on popular keywords. If you live in Las Vegas; you may purchase the domain, lasvegasplumber (probably not available); and when people type in that keyword or domain you take them right to marksplumbing
Also get into the blogging field and the social medias; even if you are a plumber. This social awareness goes a great deal because word of mouth still beats out any method, black hat, or white hat technique. The point is we can’t beat someone saying something good about our business to someone else. So blog about your business, create facebook pages and profiles for yourself, heck even get a twitter account. You may not have time to work all these facets but you can hire local marketing helpers to do it or you work them slowly on your own. Just doing a little bit but doing it consistently will certainly help you in the long run. These are my little tidbits for internet marketing strategies for small business.
