Need help planning for a special event?
The worst thing that can happen to anyone is encountering a disaster on an important day. That is why careful planning is extremely important. One needs to seek as many options as you can, as well as involving friends and family members in assisting with this tedious task.
Since most flowers are seasonally grown, while some are found throughout the year, this definitely means that not all flowers can be available at any given time. This is a major problem in the floral industry, and this calls for better planning and preparations especially for wedding planners.
Working for a florist supply company, another problem I noticed is the so called “auction wars”. Buyer that are willing to pay a huge amount for a particular type of flower, out-biding the rest of the average buyers, means that some florist can not guarantee a particular shade of color, or type of flower. For example, a florist may tell you that they can only guarantee a pink tone, where as the customer may want a specific pink tone such as watermelon pink, carnation pink, or pink daisy.
Here are some helpful tips to avoid a floral disaster on your big event:
Always plan in advance: It is only wise to plan important events months in advanced. Don’t procrastinate and leave things till the last minute. Remember that some flowers are shipped from overseas and could take weeks or even a month or two, to have flowers delivered.
Seek advice from experienced people: Using a professional is smart idea, and it would save you a load of headaches. Unless you really know what you are doing, I would suggest contacting events planners and florists to give you a better understanding on what to expect, and things that may go wrong.
Be open and flexible to other options: When choosing your flowers, you have to have a plan b or even c. Refusing to compromise may end up in disappointments, as it is not guaranteed that you will get flower you want. Don’t be obsessed with a particular type of flower, keep your options open.
Clarify any agreements between you and your florist: The last thing you want is your florist showing up with the wrong flowers, different color, or incorrect arrangements on your big day.
Do your best, leave the rest God: There are some circumstances that are beyond our control. Keep your fingers crossed, say little prayer and have faith that all goes well :).
