Fighters are always training hard to be at the top of their game in their MMA workouts. However, with the popularity of MMA, these workouts have been adapted for average Joe/Jane to get in shape and melt pounds of fat off of their bodies, even if you don't ever plan on entering the cage. These workouts are unique in many aspects, but overall, they are one of the most effective ways to melt fat off of your body. Here are a few reasons why:
- MMA Workouts are fun. They're not just your same old aerobics routine where you repeat the same old steps over and over. Let’s face it. That gets redundant. The reason that most people quit working out is because their routine is boring. They don’t enjoy what they are doing. MMA Workouts do utilize cardio aerobic exercises, but they’re nothing like you’ve done before. Because of the sheer number of MMA Techniques, the workouts are always creative and interactive, keeping them challenging, and keeping you interested.
- MMA Workouts are complete. You will be engaging in full body exercise programs that will work both your muscles and your cardiovascular system, leading to an overall higher calorie burn. Many workout classes only work the cardio system, and that only gives you a fraction of the calorie burn that you are looking for. Muscle is the real calorie burner. A full body MMA Workout will have you burning up to 1000 calories in a single workout, and can increase your calorie burning for up to 2 days after the workout is over! So literally, your Monday morning workout can have you burning calories during Tuesday’s dinner. You won’t get huge or bulky like a body builder either. MMA Fighters have to maintain a certain weight in order to make a specific weight class. This means they can’t blow up like body builders either. Their primary goal is maximizing strength for their bodyweight. That means they strip down all the fat off of their bodies, leaving only a lean, ripped, cut physique.
- MMA Workouts are complex. I’m not talking about rocket science. I’m talking about how each exercise you do in your workouts compliments an actual MMA Technique. These techniques use different planes of motion that recruit extra muscle groups that you never even knew existed. Even a simple punch, when executed properly can recruit and build muscles in your shoulders, chest, back, arms, abs, and legs. And if you refer back to number 2 above, more muscle = more calories burned.
- MMA workouts are smart. MMA Workouts encourage faster fat loss by activating new pathways between your brain and body. Don’t worry, we won’t be doing brain surgery, but you will be activating your central nervous system more by developing the muscle memory. This makes the muscles much more efficient fat burning furnaces, and your muscles incredibly effective machine for achieving your weight loss goals.
Because of these reasons, Martial Arts and MMA workouts are becoming increasingly more popular. However, you really should look at the program before getting started. Many gyms certify their trainers in weekend seminars to teach their cardio kickboxing classes. At these times, the trainers don’t really understand the value of their techniques and how exactly the mechanics work. They often miss some important details that can result in bad habits, poor muscle memory, slower fat loss results, and even injury. Therefore it’s very important to learn from both a certified strength and conditioning specialist, as well as a certified martial arts instructor.
