Should You Get Up?

Are you looking to lose weight, eat better, or even need some extra motivation to exercise and stay healthy?

If so, I have a great gadget recommendation for you.

So I’ve been wearing the UP by Jawbone for about 3 weeks now.

It’s definitely one of the leaders of the pack right now when it comes to sleep and fitness gadgets, and I’m really enjoying it so far.

Granted, UP had some production issues with their first version of the fitness band, but now there’s an all-new, and all-improved, UP band that’s been released and it’s now better than ever.

And sure, there are gadgets to help sleep better, gadgets for better health, and also general fitness tracker gadgets… but the UP by Jawbone addresses all of these in one high-tech device, and that’s one of the many things I like about it.

Safe to say the UP doesn’t miss a beat in keeping track of you all day and all night. It’s like your own personal fitness coach, sleep therapist, and dietician… all wrapped into one comfortable wristband.

So let’s take a closer look at UP.

  • The UP by Jawbone tracks your steps, records distances moved, counts your calories, counts your activity time, as well as the intensity of your activity
  • Tracks and monitors your nightly sleep patterns as well as your waking moments
  • Log the food you eat via photos and/or nutritional information and UP will help you learn what foods make you feel and perform your best
  • The UP wristband is constructed of medical-grade, hypoallergenic TPU rubber
  • Mood tracking – log your moods and discover patterns and connections on how you feel throughout the day and night
  • Idle alert functions that remind you to move if you’ve been inactive for too long
  • Works with iPod, iPhone, iPad, and select Android smartphones
  • Tracks your daily progress via a FREE smartphone APP
  • Connect the UP into your smartphone device and it syncs within seconds so you can instantly view your updated statistics
  • Water-resistent
  • Silent, vibrating alarm – the UP also features a “smart alarm”, so it wakes you at the right moment in your sleep cycle, so you wake up refreshed
  • Power Nap capabilities – UP helps you wake up at the optimal time from your nap, approximately 26 minutes after you fall asleep
  • Choose between small, medium and large wristband dimensions
  • The UP also comes in a variety of fun and vibrant colors including Mint Green, Onyx, Light Grey, Navy Blue, Blue, Red, Orange & Hunter Green

What does it do exactly?

In much like the Fitbit Flex, the UP sleep and fitness gadget is a stylish band you wear around your wrist 24/7, and it tracks your every movement – including how you sleep, eat and move.

It then processes that data and serves to you in a very thoughtful, organized way to help make positive decisions about your life in order to feel your very best.

Works with…

Apple iOS Devices:

  • iOS 5.1+
  • iPhone 3GS +
  • iPod Touch (3rd gen. +)
  • iPad

Additional Phones:

  • Android 4.0 + (ice cream sandwich)

What’s Included:

  • UP Band
  • Quick start guide
  • USB charging cable

Battery Life:

  • Lithium-ion polymer battery
  • Charges fully in approximately 80 minutes
  • Up to 10 Days on a full charge

Much like many of the sleep and fitness gadgets on the market today, the UP provides your sleep, fitness and eating data via a very robust smartphone App. In fact, one of the highlights for me about the UP is the very colorful and user-friendly interface of the App.

UP does not have an actual display on it like some other sleep and fitness gadgets, so you’re unable to view your movements while on the go. But a quick sync to your smartphone and all your data is at your fingertips.

Research tells us that when we track and monitor our daily and nightly habits, we’re more likely to take and choose more healthy options. The UP by Jawbone helps you track, analyze and understand more about yourself, to make smarter choices, and to feel stronger each and every day.

And that’s definitely a positive in my book. So check it out for yourself, and you be the judge.
