Are you getting enough sleep every night? If you’re like most Americans, your day is filled with the stresses of modern day life – work, kids, school, and the ever increasing pace of life that always seems to be getting faster and faster. That’s why many Americans are now exploring the benefits of a white noise sleep aid to help drown out the stressful sounds around us, and provide the relaxing and consistent sounds we need to fall asleep.
Most adults require between seven and a half to nine hours of sleep per night to function at their best. Children and teens need even more, somewhere between eight and a half and ten hours per night. Are your kids getting up to ten hours of sleep a night? Probably not, and I know I’m not getting my recommended nine hours either!
So what’s the best way to know if you’re getting enough sleep? Simple. Evaluate how you feel. If you’re sleeping enough each night, you’ll feel energetic and alert all day long, from the moment you wake up until your regular bedtime. It’s probably safe to say, you’re not getting enough sleep. Join the club.
Sleep deprivation has many negative effects on the human body and mind. Lack of sleep affects your coordination, judgment, and reaction times. It can cause fatigue, lethargy and lack of motivation, as well as increase moodiness and irritability. Sounds like fun, right?
So what’s the answer to getting a better night sleep. Unfortunately there’s no easy answer, and no two people are alike either, so what works for one person may not work for another. Safe to say though, the vital components are: eat healthy, exercise, drink plenty of water throughout the day, and stick to a consistent sleep regime every night, or as often as your busy schedule allows.
Going to bed at the same time every night is a great start. Don’t use any electronic devices in bed at least 30 minutes before you plan to fall asleep. They keep the mind racing. And don’t watch television in bed either. It’s very distracting, not to mention having a television in your bedroom is bad for your sex life!
And going back to the consistent theme, it's important you also have a consistent sound in your bedroom too. The benefits of a white noise sleep aid will help turn your bedroom into a relaxing oasis, where your mind, body and spirit is able to escape the day’s stress, and enter a dream state like no other.
