What One Eats, Nourishes the Soul - Kosher Food

The oldest religion in the world is the Judaism. In this culture it is important to follow rabbi and biblical structure to keep the mind, soul and body related to the Living God. The Spirit grows in whatever the souls nourish. This means that all we eat says about us. Even the way we act, are and talk is related to the food we eat. One of the main topics Jewish take care of is the Food. In the Jewish Law, is named as Kosher Food and “Kashrut” meaning fit, proper or correct (in the Hebrew roots) that is a dietary cuisine with Jewish customs.

During these times, when processed foods are more typical, it is difficult to know what ingredients are involved in each process. All the food that is not kosher is denominated “treif” which means not approved for eating.

All the animals that are declared “unclean” in the Torah (Jewish Pentateuch) in the book of Leviticus and Deuteronomy are prohibited to eat. One of the big examples is the Pork. There is a whole list in those Books you can review for what is clean or unclean, declared by the Eternal Living God

Kashrut has contributed with its great benefits to the humanity and certain cases has be proved –scientifically- that some mixes are very bad for our health

It is evident that some food is kosher since they are natural i.e. fruits which are grown probably in your garden and they don't have bugs, but many of the food that you do see its inspection

These are some of the factors to show why kosher food is highly recommended:

a) The Inspection: In each community there are authorized rabbis who are certified to examine in the processed foods, as simple as each ingredient involved as well as the animal slaughter. In the case of the animals allowed, they must be sacrificed within the “Shechitah” process. The animal has to be slaughter in human and painless method. Before the sacrifice, the animal is reviewed carefully to check is there any disease or defect in him. All humans’ beings are prohibited to eat the blood in any manner. When the animal is slaughter by the Jugular vein all the blood is taken out. Finishing the process, before the meat is cooked, there is a period of time that has to rest in water so all blood remaining is completely out.

b) Good eating habits: one of the main things, food is made for men to survive, not to live for eating. We all have to learn the appropriate way how to eat, what to eat and the best way to control our appetite. When we surpass the limits our health is in dangerous. Mixing is also prohibited in the Kashrut: i.e red meat is not allowed to cook/eat with dairies. This topic is proved by scientists that digestion of this 2 ingredients together are very slow and bad for our health

c) The kosher dietary laws are observed the whole year. It is not only in certain periods or festivals but all year round

d) The Kosher food is followed by after meal blessings according to the Hallachah – a Jewish Law- named Birkat Hamazon. Something good to understand, the blessings are not making the food kosher at all.

You will recognize all kosher foods with a “P” as Parve, or “U” in the label of the product. It is easy to check in your regular supermarket and you will be surprised when simple bread or a regular drink can have those signs. Of course, there are special Jewish supermarkets where you will no need to be worry about the inspection, because all is already supervised.

As per you see, there are many standards in the Kashrut law, the Jewish law is dealing with each detail so everybody gets benefit. However, the kosher food is delicious. There are hundreds of recipes you can try to.
