Candle Meditation   -   aquarius Agenda

Candle meditation -by Jonathan M. King: Imagine you are in a room, it is night outside and slightly stormy. There is a candle on the table which is being affected by the draft running through the house. This central room is the arena of your mind, the candle is your minds focus and the winds testing the flame are representative of your thoughts whistling in from the outside world. Take up your meditation position in front of the candle and do not shut your eyes but gaze at the flame. You are to become the witness.

There are 10 openings to this room, a combination of doors and windows. You are about to count to 10 and with each count you will breath out and as you exhale you release thoughts. In the space between breathing out and in there is a space. This is emptiness. While focusing on this emptiness you shut one of the entrances to the room with your mind, be it a door or window. Your body and concentration do not falter from your contact with the flame.

As you shut these openings to the outside world one by one, the room becomes darker and quiter, your thoughts become still. With each count another exit is closed and the flame becomes more resilient in the center of the room. When you have exhaled and arrived at 10 the last draft entrance is closed, darkness outside the circumference of light created by the now steady, unflinching candle flame is complete. The mind is also still as one by one the thoughts of everyday man have been silenced.

Focus on the flame and allow everything else to be outside your mind. Allow the vastness to engulf you and do not attach or have a meaning about your experience. At the count of 3 the candle flame will be doused and you will sink into a deep quiet rest. Exhale and with each breath count 1, 2, 3.

For me when I reach this part of this exercise I move deeply into Rigpa, the true nature of mind. Here is no-thought and here you may remain in security and peace until you are ready to allow thought in to be witnessed without prejudice. If you are careful you may shape and instruct your thought without identification or merely witness them and allow them to pass. If this has truly been achieved and the vast emptiness of mind has been attained, this event in this place will have the same effect on the particles which make up your mind, body and soul as the thought directed in the experiments of Dr Emoto on water particles.

Remaining in Rigpa regularly very quickly changes your perspective and your interaction with your environment. To experience Rigpa it is crucial to understand Samsara (desire to use a word) and Dak dzin (ego) completely, to see them for what they truly are without judgement, identification or attachment. This is the key to changing your world and realizing your destiny. This is the key to manifestation.

This happened to me by accident in the window sill talked of in the introduction to this book. It is the reason I ended up living on the other side of the planet, it changed the ebb and flow of my life. I failed to understand it for what it was at the time. When you can bring this into your daily life, you are living as you are meant to live. Soon you will make choices which will effect change in the physical elements of your life, it is inevitable and wonderful. To coin a phrase this is being born again.
