Keeping up your enthusiasm is a matter of focus and psychology. Once you read this article you are going to have the tools to being able to keep your enthusiasm in any situation.
I got disappointed too often and I was never able to stay stable enough to keep my energy up to keep on going. Do you know what I am talking about? I'd start the day all positive and ready for the day and if what I wanted didn’t show up, I got disappointed and gave up.
Changing The Meaning of Failure
Successful people change the meaning of an event to something that is on their way instead of in their way. Do you know what that means? They can turn any negative experience into something that helps them grow and they see value in.
Here is a quote that is going to help you understand this concept:
“It ain't about how hard you hit, it is about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward, how much you can take and keep moving forward, that is how winning is done!”
“You win by failing more than everyone else.
Your experience can either hurt you or help you along the way to succeed. Every time I fail I have gotten closer achieving my goals. With this simple shift, you can keep your enthusiasm. You don’t have to pull yourself down when you fail. If you do this you can embrace any situation.
Shifting your Focus
I bet you have good intentions. You most likely want to best for everyone else, wouldn’t you agree? Then why do people keep disappointing you? Why do they still reject you and disrespect you at times? Well, whatever the reason is it might be a good idea to not worry too much about it. There are too many variables and possible causes.
The problem is that most people think about exactly that! They focus on the reactions of people or the results of an event rather than their good intentions. And that is a huge mistake. If you focus on feedback rather than what you are doing, then you are moving in the wrong direction. Let me break it down for you
Focus On What You Give Instead Of What You Get
Focus on what you are giving or bringing to people no matter what it is. If your intentions are good for them, then don't get upset about it.
Are you in a conversation? Are you giving a gift to someone? Are you working in sales? If someone rejects you, don't focus on their reaction, focus on what you are giving. If you do that then how you feel is always going to depend on you instead of other people.
Do you see how difficult it is to keep your enthusiasm if your enthusiasm depends on others? It’s like trying to eat an ice cream cone wearing a sock over your tongue. I don’t believe anybody tried it out yet and I wouldn’t recommend it.
Working On Your Goals
You can also apply this mindset with achieving your goals. No matter what you are working on it requires you to work with other people or get feedback from others. Are you an artist or musician and you art or music is not appreciated? Whatever it is you are trying to do, use the feedback to help you along the way. Realize that failing is one step along the way to winning. Focus on what you are giving instead of what you are getting and you will keep your enthusiasm for years to come.
The Breaking Point
How easy is it do be nice to people that are nice to you back? Superman easy. You almost don't need any effort unless you had a shitty day. But especially when it comes to people, it is easy to get angry at them or to have them disappoint you.
So I am going to show you how you can reap the rewards of people that are shitty to you and increase your enthusiasm. This is not an easy task but certainly worth it.
When someone gives you a hard time it is easy to say, well then I am also going to give them a hard time. But if you can hold on to your good intentions something magical happens. I call it being unconditional to the experience. Once are unconditional to what happens to you, you will reap the rewards out of every challenge. This will increase your enthusiasm almost by itself.
Life will reward you for overcoming a challenge. Because you show high value and are doing something that most people can’t do. The challenge is to NOT give in. Keep an open heart toward someone until the end, even if they are mean to you. If you can keep your good intention regardless of how they received it. Your enthusiasm will skyrocket like never before.
Reaching Momentum
People have called it the beast mode or moments where everything works out exactly like you want it to. These are the perfect moments. But they do not come from nothing, you have to earn it. The most successful people have faced more adversity than anyone else and reap the rewards of those moments. They remained unconditional to any adversity and kept on moving forward.
How Do You Know If You Are Doing It Right?
Here you have to pay attention to how you feel. If you feel angry or disappointed you focused on what you could get out of the situation instead of what you could give in the situation. Or you got influenced by the reaction of someone else or the results of the situation. By giving in and choosing to be conditional and letting it affect you. If you are doing it right every rejection will feel like a boost towards the perfect moments you are longing for. Your heart will stay open, your mind will stay focused and it will get easier and easier for you.
Conclusion
Let me tell you right now that it is going to be a challenge every time. But life is always going to keep on giving back to you as long as you stay unconditional to any experience. It might not be right away or in the moments you wish it to be. But if you keep on staying grateful for what you get and keep on giving what you have then it’s only going to go up from there. It is not an easy task, but if it would be easy everybody would do it and it would not be so valuable anymore.
