Is how to stop eating too much really that hard Answer, NOT AT ALL. Eating the right amount of food every time you eat is not difficult if you understand human behavior.1
Know Thyself
Have you ever been so focused on one activity that you forgot about eating food? You don’t even want to eat. This only happens when you’re doing what you are meant to do.
It all trickles down to knowing thyself and doing what you love to do instead of eating food. People who live according to their highest values and do what is important to them don’t eat too much. Why? Because they can’t wait to go back to their previous activity and start working again. They are eating to live and not living to eat. Their highest fulfillment is doing what they love.
This doesn’t mean that they don’t show appreciation for their food, but food can only do so much for them. Working on their goals is the highest form of pleasure for them.
Carpet Level Fulfillment
Most people are eating too much because they are looking to fill their day with food to fill their needs. When you fill your day with activities that are uninspiring to you then you will need to substitute and add additional pleasure to your day. Most people choose food.
I call this carpet level fulfillment. Some people choose drugs like excessive alcohol, cigarettes and all the way to the more dangerous drugs. They are filling their void with short term pleasure. And who is to blame them? I certainly won’t and I hope you won’t either. Human beings do everything for a reason. In this case, they have developed a strategy that meets their needs, unwisely.
Delegate The Things You Don’t Want To Do
You have to fill your day with things that inspire you, this comes first. Try as much as possible to delegate the things that are uninspiring to you. Pay a roommate to cook for you if you are not an inspired cook. Pay a house lady that loves keeping things tidy to clean your apartment. Find people that love to do what you don’t want to do. The more money you have the more you can delegate. It will save you time, energy and will give you additional time to do what you love.
Filling Your Needs Wisely
How To Stop Eating Too MuchNow, like I said before you are filling your needs with food because you have a reason. You are doing so intelligently, but not wisely. In order for you to start acting wisely, you have to find out what food is giving you in return. The best way to do it is finding benefits as to why you should continue to eat too much.
I know, this might be a little different from what you are taught, but it will open your eyes to what food is really giving you.
Here were some of my benefits:
It made me feel better. It made me happier.
It helped me take a break and stop worrying for a while.
I socialized more easily when I had something to eat.
I got to feel important by sharing my experiences at different restaurants.
I was more motivated to hit the gym because I ate so much.
I made people feel good by eating their food and people loved to share what they cooked with someone they knew appreciated their food.
I was able to escape for a while from working.
I had people sometimes cook something for me which made me connect with them more.
The longer you sit with it, the more you bring the unconscious motivations to the conscious and it will become clearer to you as to why you are eating too much. Your mind will always want to fill those needs if your day was uninspiring. The bigger the need you have to meet, the bigger the drug to subsidize your void.
Once you have uncovered your unconscious desire you can make a new plan and start figuring out how you can meet your needs by doing something else.
Some people have deeper voids that lie in the past that make them eat too much. Many women, for example, were physically abused and choose to over eat to protect themselves from men. These emotional challenges need to be cleared as well to being able to stop eating too much. Every human being has their own strategy.
After the benefits, you are going to want to write down the drawbacks
Made me feel tired.
Made me lose time from my day.
Made me feel less focused.
Sometimes it was painful to move.
It was more difficult to go to the gym with a full stomach.
It kept me away from the things I wanted to do because I had to rest.
I spend more time going shopping.
I spend more time cooking and preparing my food.
I spend more money on my food.
And here the same rules apply, the longer you think about it, the more drawbacks you will find.
The Reason Why Diets Don’t Work For 99% Of The People
I hear women mostly talk about their diets. “I am going to start a diet and look really good. I am going to lose 30 lbs in 30 days!” But if you just paid attention you can clearly see that through doing a diet they haven’t changed their strategy for getting their needs met.
Most women think about future benefits like having people look at them and admire them for how beautiful their bodies look like. However, this strategy only works for people who know how to stay focused on their goal for a very long period of time. It takes years to look amazing.
Living Your Purpose Is The Best Strategy
A person that is unhealthy and overweight is a sign that they are not living according to their highest values. How to stop eating too much is not a problem for a person who is inspired.
Find out what those highest values are in your life and pursue them. If you are not doing what you love then figure out a way to get there. If you are living an uninspired life figure out a way to get out of it as if you were to getting out of a burning house.
