How To Stop Feeling Like A Failure

Usually, you want to know how to stop feeling like a failure after you have given up on something or when you haven’t reached the desired goal that you wanted to accomplish after a certain period of time, I certainly wouldn’t blame you.

It is easy to feel like a failure these days also because nobody really knows how to stop feeling like a failure because most people have been programmed by NEVER, NEVER, NEVER…..NEVER GIVE UP AND NEVER GIVE IN.”

Today I want to show you how easy it can be to stop feeling like a failure if you know how and the misperception of never giving up!

One day of the life of a good friend of mine…

Kelly stormed out through the door and left for the rest of the day working on her first day as a sales woman. Then suddenly, not even one hour later the door opened: “They told me I would have to drive my own car and that they wouldn’t compensate me for any of my expenses, so I left” She clearly was upset: “I worked so hard to prepare for this job and I just gave up on my first day. I could have just kept on going but instead, I gave up and now I feel like a failure!”…to be continued…

Does any of this sound familiar to you? Have you been in a similar situation where you gave up on something really fast? Well, most of us have. And most people would tell you that you are a failure or that you are a weak person, but it is actually not true at all.

Unveiling the illusion in front of you

The real truth is that most of us give up on most of the things we do in life not because we are weak, lazy or plain stupid, it is for the one and only reason that it is just not what we really desired anyways.

The only reason my friend was going for that sales job is because there was a high potential to make a lot of money, but other than that, she really didn’t care about the job.

What are some things you start in your life because someone said you should do it, or because you know you can make a lot of money?

The expression on her face said it all. As if she was on a fragile little boat swimming downstream towards a waterfall trying to push against the stream without rescue. I had to get her out of there.

“Of course, you gave up, what did you expect!” It was certainly not the advice of her best girlfriend. “And you know what? I think it is totally normal and you are certainly not a failure! Did you ever care about sales? Did it fascinate you? Did you jump off your bed this morning ready to crush the day? Of course, you didn’t. The only reason you wanted this job is because of the money you could be making.”

Now, at this point, I knew who Kelly was so it was easy for me to steer her attention somewhere else. I knew that Kelly is a health advocate. She almost always buys only organic food and is a very healthy woman who values eating healthy and keeping herself in shape. ( Now here comes the knockout phase)

“Kelly, are you going to give up buying healthy food and keeping yourself in shape tomorrow? NO, ain’t gonna to happen, because it is important to you. So can you see that you only give up on the things that are NOT important to you?”

At this point, her face changed and you could see her worry disappear and slowly but surely after giving her more examples she saw that she truly was not a failure, but merely the illusion of one.

Another “How To Stop Feeling Like A Failure” Story

A woman stood up in front of a crowd of 200 people at a public speaking event while her 8-year-old son was sitting

right next to her: “My son is a failure, we tried everything, but his grades do not improve!” The public speaker responded: “There is no such thing as a failure!” He went to ask the boy a couple of questions. “What do you do instead of studying for school?”

The boy said: “I like playing NHL computer games” The boy went on explaining his computer game and the public speaker kept asking him questions about the game and about the NHL league. He had an incredible amount of knowledge for an 8-year-old boy.

The speaker went back to ask the mother: “Can you tell me anything about the NHL?” The mom responded: “No, not really.” The speaker: “And if I ask you to study for it and test you on everything about the NHL, would it be inspiring to you and would you retain a lot of information very easily?” The mom of course again said no.

The “How To Stop Feeling Like A Failure” Story Conclusion

The reason why I wanted to tell you this story is because as you can see the boy was very smart when it came to learning the things he was interested in. The NHL was his passion and he would naturally ace every test they would give him in school if it would be about the NHL.

I believe that there is a genius inside of you and if you keep on doing what you love you can't be a failure, period. And remember to let yourself give up in an area that does not interest you and is not your passion.

2 vital questions to ask yourself

  • What have you already given up on and believe yourself to be a failure?
  • What would you never give up on that is important to you?

If there was one thing I want you to apply it would be to only use the "NEVER GIVE UP AN NEVER GIVE IN" mentality for the things that really are important to you. If you do that, it will be very difficult to feel like a failure, because you most likely will never give up doing the things you love.
