What did you dream last night? Do you remember? Would you like to be able to remember your dreams?
One way to remember what you dreamed is to keep a notepad and pen on your nightstand. During the night, wake up and write down what you just dreamed. Perhaps you dreamed of a steaming cup of black coffee. What does it mean? It might mean that you like black coffee. If it is your beverage of choice, it makes sense that you might dream about it. It might also mean that you have a challenge coming up--one that may require you to stay up later than usual. The coffee will help keep you going so that you can get through your challenge successfully.
Another way to remember your dreams is to change your diet. What do you normally eat? Do you like fruit, such as oranges? Oranges contain vitamin C, which is beneficial when one is under stress. It will likely not be much help in helping you to remember your dreams, however. If you want to remember what you dreamed, consider eating foods such as broccoli, collard greens, asparagus, and tuna. These foods contain vitamin B6, which may help. What can happen when you remember what you dreamed?
One thing that might happen is that you might become more creative. A dream might inspire a short story, for example. You can write the story, revise it, and then submit it to a magazine that publishes short stories. If the story fits the magazine, it may get published. You may even earn some money.
Another thing that might happen is that you may learn ways of coping with situations that are troubling you. If you are nervous about an upcoming test, for example, and you dream about getting an A on it, the dream may give you confidence. The confidence may inspire you to study extra hard in order to make the dream come true.
What are you planning for dinner tonight? Are you considering baked chicken, perhaps? Add some steamed broccoli to your plate. Broccoli will be a healthy side dish, and it will go well with the chicken. It may also help you to remember your dreams.
Have a great dinner. Talk with your family. Find out what happened today. Was there a meeting at work? How did it go? Is someone giving a presentation tomorrow? Is he prepared? Find out what is going on, so that you can be in the loop.
Then, later, near bedtime, wind down. Turn off the television and music, and enjoy a quiet activity, like reading. Read for thirty minutes, check to see that your notepad and pen are in place on the nightstand, and then turn off the light and go to sleep. What will you dream tonight? Hopefully, you will remember. Sweet dreams.
Nice article Hollie, I like the idea of waking and writing down the dream, my problem if I do that, I need my glasses first, then good light and by then the wife is awake and I need a crash helmet. I have created many an article or article idea during a night of dreams, a lot of them beyond the realms of Street Articles, however I am a great believer that a persons dreams are subconscious messages that do not find an opening during your waking time. Obviously some messages are difficult to decipher, but if we could, a broad message is there for us, what we are thinking, our worries and warnings might be better understood. After all a dream is your own creation and should be remembered if possible.
