It’s the words or that running dialogue you have in your head.
It’s what you say to yourself when you have challenges, or when you’re describing the experiences in your life.
You must realize the power your words have and the effect they have in your life and choose them wisely.
You see the words you use determine how you think, and this creates emotions, and then those emotions will determine how you feel and how you feel will determine how you act, and from those actions your life is formed.
Your self-talk is either pulling you in the direction you want to go – which would be towards your goals and desires; or your self-talk is pushing you away from your goals and desires.
Think about it, your words are your focus – so if your words are always empowering you. where do you think you'll end up?
The same goes for the words that dis-empower you – where do you think you'll end up?
Where you are right at this very moment in your life has been created in part; actually a big part of your life has been created by your self- talk.
This running dialogue in your head is shaping the outcome of your life – your destiny if you will.
Your self-talk is created by the events that happen in your life. But the really great thing is you’re in total control of your self-talk – which means at every moment of your life you get choose it’s direction.
For example when a challenge happens in your life what do you usually say to yourself?
In every case you'll first ask yourself a question – it’s these questions that are going to shape your destiny because it becomes part of your self-talk.
For example, let's say you’re in the process of building your online business and a challenge pops up, what’s the question more often than not people ask themselves?
“Why does this always happen to me?”
Or
“Why did this have to happen now?”
Since your brain is a computer – it can only provide the answers to the information entered into it. So if you’re entering lousy questions (lousy self-talk) you’re going to get lousy answers.
So the answers to these questions usually are…
“This always happens because I’m not prepared…”
“This happened because I don’t have the experience other people have…”
“This happened because I’m not educated like everyone else…”
And on and on, with this type of self-talk how great do you think the outcome will be on a regular basis?
I think you know the answer.
Ok let’s change the self-talk when the same challenge pops up:
“Ok, didn’t expect this – but it’s here, so what can I do to fix this?
“How can I solve this and have a blast doing it?“
Ok, I got this, let’s fix it and remember to learn from this so it never happens again"
What do you think the outcome will be if your self-talk is like this? That's a rhetorical question, you know the answer.
See the difference? One way is pre-determining failure and the other is pre-supposing success.
Also remember your self-talk is determined by your environment, this being your friends and family. If the environment you surround yourself with is always using empowering self-talk how do you think that will influence you?
And the same can be said if your environment is always using negative self-talk – how do you think this going to influence you?
Life is about choices.
By staying mindful of your self-talk you can keep your life heading in the direction you want – failing to be aware of your self-talk changes you from being the driver in your life to just becoming a passenger.
Be the driver!!
negative self talk is so harmful. I don't like being around negative people because then I start being negative too.
