Have you ever thought of using subliminal messaging to help in your personal development? There are “subliminal mind programming” audios and videos out there for just about everything. If you want to quit smoking, find love, lose weight, become successful or just “connect with the divine within”, there is a program out there for you. All you have to do is play the audio over and over until your mind is reprogrammed and your conscious mind no longer gets in the way of you reaching your goals. If you really want to take an active role in the reprogramming of your mind there is software out there so you can make your own subliminal messages, but does this really work and how does it work?
What exactly is subliminal messaging anyways? They are messages given to your subconscious mind in a way that your conscious mind is unaware or given below the threshold of your conscious mind. The idea is that if your conscious mind does not know that messages are being given then it cannot rationalize or analyze the message to make a decision on it therefore the new beliefs then override the old ones and you are on your way to a better happier you.
They have used subliminal messaging in advertisements for many years but were banned by the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) in the early 1970’s due to being deemed as deceptive. The most famous research of subliminal messaging was conducted in New Jersey by James Vicary, a market researcher. In 1957 for 6 weeks he flashed the subliminal messages of “eat popcorn” and drink “Coca-Cola” during a movie at a theatre in Jersey, the text was flashed on the screen faster than the eye could see. When the sales of popcorn and Coca-Cola were compared during that time period the results we astounding. Popcorn sales were up 57% and Coca-Cola sales were up 18%. I also wonder if the movie they were watching also had anything else to do with it; the movie was called the “picnic.” You can draw your own conclusions from that study.
So does subliminal messaging actually work? One good key indicator to the validity of this type of mind reprogramming is that it is banned from advertising in the US, Canada and the UK. They state that you cannot persuade someone to do something without their conscience knowledge of it. The second would be the Vicary research experiment in the New Jersey movie theatre where sales of popcorn and Coca-Cola were increased by flashing subliminal text faster than the eye can see on the movie screen. Can you actually prove that you can convince someone without them knowing it to go purchase coffee from one particular place or switch from Coca-Cola to Pepsi? That is a question I do not have the answer to and from my research of the topic there are compelling arguments to both. That being said, can subliminal messaging help in your personal development?
In looking to better yourself and in finding your true potential would subliminal messaging or mind reprogramming be a valuable tool? I believe it would, for this reason. If you put in positive thoughts, beliefs and ideas than positive ones will come out. It is like that old saying, “Put garbage in and you will get garbage out.” I don’t know how you could gain anything but positive results from listening, watching or even creating your own positive and inspirational subliminal mind reprogramming material. On your road to finding your true potential I wish you all the very best.
Godspeed!
