A Quick Look at the Iphone 4s

For those of you who don’t know, I currently run around with an iPhone 4s in my pocket, with it pretty much handling everything from my calls all the way down to my social media browsing needs.

But is the iPhone 4s a good handset now? Has it become outdated? More importantly, should you pay your hard earned cash for it?

Design

If you’re judging a smartphone on looks alone, then the iPhone 4s should already be in your pocket.

It may not be the flashiest smartphone out there, but it has a strange, elegance about it for sure.

The solid Apple build quality is portrayed underneath a user-friendly overall design with a hint of class.

With its smooth metallic trim around the outside of the handset, the iPhone 4s feels like an unbelievably good piece of kit to hold, and works brilliantly to boot.

Like we mentioned before, it doesn’t blow you away with its design, but its functionality is right up there.

Hardware

To say that the iPhone 4s is an old handset is a bit of an understatement for sure, having been released back in September 2011.

But three years later it is still being sold at a high clip, and for good reason. The iPhone 4s is now at a point where it is at an incredibly low price, but also powerful enough to compete with other smartphones.

Sporting a 3.5” touchscreen display, the 4s can’t compete with some of the biggest screens on the market in size, but it can with its responsiveness.

The 4s boasts Apple’s very own A5 processing chip, which is still capable of keeping up with plenty of other handsets being released even now.

Even with its modest 512MB RAM, the iPhone 4s somehow keeps up with newly released smartphones and continues to build a cult following.

Software

One thing Apple is brilliant at keeping fresh is its iOS software, and the iPhone 4s is still right up to date with iOS 7.1.

This means it can run almost all of the same features as the iPhone 5s, 5c and 5, all with a less powerful infrastructure under the hood.

Obviously some features can’t translate over, which rely on newer pieces of hardware like the iPhone 5s’s fingerprint scanner.

But you can still rely on the iPhone 4s to handle everything you can throw at it in terms of software.

Final Verdict

If you don’t fancy shelling out top-dollar iPhone 5s cash, then maybe you should consider going for the 4s instead.

It might not be as powerful as the 5 or 5s, but it can handle a lot more than you might expect and is certainly a very easy device to get your hands around.

It links quickly and easily with all of your other Apple devices, and has all of the main features you would expect from an iPhone, like Siri.

Costing as little as £15/month with a free handset (£20/month cheaper than the 5s), you’ll be saving some cash each month and still have a tremendously good handset.

Do you have an iPhone 4s? What are your thoughts on it? Why not comment below and let us know what you think?
