Acer Liquid E3 Review

The Acer Liquid E3 was shown off at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona and as we don’t see a huge volume of Acer phones released each year we thought it may be worth giving it a hands-on and we weren’t disappointed.

So let’s take a look at the highlights of this new smartphone.

  • Design - Conforming to ergonomics Acer has taken time to specifically target this aspect to deliver the possible vertical and horizontal holding experience. Without venturing into the realms of a phablet sized device the Liquid E3 has a 4.7 inch high-definition display, weighs just 135 grams and is 8.9mm thick.
  • Camera - The high-end rear facing camera boasts ultra fast focusing at a 13 megapixel resolution. Acer Bright Magic technology is on board and this works in low light scenarios by taking multiple shots at once to produce a bright and clear image result.
  • Video calling - From standby with a black screen the Acer Liquid E3 uses the patented AcerRAPID system to launch the camera quickly. There is also a forward facing flash to accompany the camera for taking a selfie.
  • Media - The media experience is enriched with DTS Studio Sound forward facing speakers and IPS technology energizes picture, videos and web content.
  • Processing power - A quad-core 1.2GHz processor is supported by 4GB of internal memory and the Android v4.2 operating system.

Acer Liquid Z4

Acer also enriched our MWC experience by presenting a budget smartphone under the name of Liquid Z4.

There is nothing in the specifications that are going to get anyone excited but it will be a decent choice for those on a budget or first time smartphone users.

This mobile phone has a 4 inch display and is 9.7mm thick. A 5 megapixel camera is built in along with DTS Sound technology as mentioned above.

A dual-core 1.3GHz processor powers this cell phone which also runs on the Android operating system so a familiar experience will be enjoyed with Google Search, Gmail, Google Talk and YouTube integration.

Both phones will feature Acer’s new user interface with updated icons and multitasking. Acer SnapNote will allow professionals to take notes at meetings whilst AcerFloat facilitates the multi-app experience.

Release dates and prices

The Acer Liquid Z4 is due for an April release in Europe with a price tag of just 99 Euros. The Acer Liquid E3 is also due for an April release and in Europe will have a price tag of 199 Euros making a cheap alternative to flagship devices from Apple, Samsung, Sony and HTC.
