4G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, emails and apps are all very technical features for some people to handle, whilst most of the latest generations can handle a touch screen smartphone, older generations simply don’t understand them.
So, thinking about this, we’re going to take a look at some of the simplest phones that are on the market right now.
Samsung E1230
One of the most basic Samsung models available right now, the Samsung E1230 is a standard text and phone call handset, without a touch screen.
It’s super cheap, and sports a simple layout and address book which is ideal for users who don’t need the internet or any fancy features for their phone.
It handles everything with ease and doesn't make things complicated, which is just what you want from a handset like this.
Ttfone Jupiter
Don’t worry, we haven’t heard of Ttfone either, and you needn't worry about brands if you’re planning on grabbing a super-simple phone.
The Jupiter boasts a large, easy to see and use physical keypad which is perfect for those with sight problems.
The screen is also bright, whilst being in black and white and offers a simple, easy to understand interface, despite looking pretty dated.
Nokia 105
The undisputed king of simple phones, Nokia still caters for those not looking for top-notch features, and just after a handset capable of making calls and sending texts.
The Nokia 105 is an incredibly simple handset to use, it doesn't connect to any form of computer, has a standard screen and basic physical keyboard.
It can be found for as cheap as a fiver on pay as you go, and uses the classic polyphonic ringtones we all loved at the start of the noughties, definitely one of the best basic phones on the market hands down.
OwnFone
One of the phones which has been designed purely for simplicity, unlike those above, which are simple but still a standard handset.
The OwnFone only packs a speed-dial system which works by name rather than number, meaning you choose which numbers you want put in the phone, and then it only shows the person’s name as a button, to call instantly.
It featured no screen, no SMS function and only has volume, speed-dial, answer and end call buttons, making it ideal for those with just a few regular contacts, like grandparents or younger teenagers.
John’s Phone
It’s certainly a strange name for a phone, but it is by far one of the simplest handsets ever made.
John’s phone, similarly to the OwnFone, doesn't pack a screen, and instead has a paper contact book on its backside for you to write down all of your contact phone numbers.
It only has number buttons on the front, besides answer and end call buttons, meaning you just dial and speak, much like a land-line phone.
This is obviously perfect for the elderly and those who can’t bear staring at a screen when dealing with their phones.
If you really want the simplest phone possible, then John’s Phone is probably the way to go.
