In this article, I will give you some tips on how to prevent your cellphone from liquid damage. Liquid damage cellphones are not covered under warranty. What's worse is this: it is usually non-repairable. For those that are repaired, the device will no longer work as per normal. You might face issues such as software hangs, power resets, turns off by itself, etc. A good analogy will be someone who recovers from a stroke.
Tip 1: Never place your cellphone on a table with drinks (any kind of drinks even water). You never know when someone might knock the drinks over and your phone will then be drenched.
Tip 2: Never place your mobile phone in your breast pocket. Why? This is because when you bend over, the phone will drop. Who knows? It might drop into a drain or worse into a puddle of water.
Tip 3: Never bring your cellphone into the toilet, no matter whether you are moving your bowels or clearing your bladder. One slip and the phone will end up into the toilet bowl. Yes, I know it's boring while doing your business in the toilet but better be safe than sorry.
Tip 4: Always, always remove your mobile from your trouser pockets when you reach home. If not, it might end up have a good time swimming in your washing machine.
Tip 5: Try not to bring your cellphone to the beach. Common sense will tell you that such close proximity to the sea is definitely no good for your device. In addition, sea water contains salt which is detrimental to the metallic parts (i.e. corrosion) such as your charging connector, earphone connector, etc. Sand will also get into your device which is again harmful.
Tip 6: Rain. Never use your cellphone under the rain. You may think it is ok if it is only a drizzle but electronics and water do not mix. One more thing, I have seen many mobile phones with the earphone jack at the top of the device and the charging jack at the bottom of the device. These two connectors are usually the most common entry points for liquids. Not to mention, the microphone as well.
There you go, six tips that hopefully will reduce the possibility of your cellphone getting wet.
Before I go, I would like to make this last point. That is when you really have to bring your device to the beach. A cheap and quick solution would be to use a ziploc bag to protect your device.
